Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

There have been RIFs before and after VSP

Far more than 5000 people will end up being affected. Any idea for how long RIFs will continue? This has been too stressful and demoralizing for most of us.

The HR VP just said on Joe Russo's employee webcast that RIFs are a fact of life at Verizon for the foreseeable future.

RIFs will continue forever. Every month there are RIFs somewhere. They may be small and targeted or large outsourced groups, but make no mistake, they never end.

When have rifs ever ended?
I don't think there has been a single year without anyone being rif'd since divestiture. And most certainly they have occurred in significant numbers every single year since 2000. You don't get from 250k employees to only 100k by just doing a handful of 5-15k reductions via VSP every 5-10yrs.

RIF will never end. They always will find a way to outsource any USA position to anywhere. Just wonder when congress will audit all of the companies that are outsourcing USA jobs and people outside USA having access to the USA users data. Only time will tell 😞

This year’s RIFs should be completed by end of October, to meet the typical 2-month notice requirement for many states.
