Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Any idea how many of these subscriptions we’ve sold?

“Ford Secure is a subscription for Stolen Vehicle Services.”

Why would anybody pay Ford for this?

If we need a layoff, anybody associated with 5his should go first.

Sorry, we cannot provide the number of subs... the laptop with these numbers was stolen... together with the Ford vehicle... don't worry, Ford Security came up with a foolproof way of find it... since it is just a question of time before all those Stolen Vehicles catch fire or break, eventually we'll find it... just wait until after 2025, when we get a new CEO, with another strategic plan (One Ford+++ OS 360 degrees), and then, since subs will no matter anymore, we'll say it was a another Ford success, but now we are moving to a service model, and Ford will be a RAD (Rapid Application Development) vehicle cloud provider.

Disclaimer: I am not a bot, nor AI (I am so tired that probably I am now behaving like an AA- artificial a--hole), and while I do work at Ford, I have no clue what is going to happen next year. I completely made up the RAD vehicle cloud provider part, but now that I am thinking about it... maybe I should patent it, and become the next CEO. Maybe the Ford family will buy this cr@p, like they bought Farley's. Ford still be cr@p, since I am just an engineer, but I'll make some millions like Farley for not doing anything. Better than now, where I make six figures for delivering actual technical solutions. Please take this as my nightly discharge...and not an investment advice...

I’d bet $100 that the number of these subscriptions sold is zero.

It seems that Ford Secure is where the people who failed to deliver a van and pickup security startup go to keep collecting a paycheck.

Accountability matters, just not at Ford.

I guarantee that if Ford was proud of the subscription sales numbers they would be the first line item on the Quarterly Sales Release. The fact that those numbers are not reported reflects the fact that they are not significant.

Why would Ford leadership want to release the number of subscriptions/services that we have transacted? That would be giving away our advantage in the market.

When you can offer a great service that customers will pay for, it's easy revenue without much overhead. Win win.

BlueCruise is the perfect example.

As long as a company offers subscriptions on a monthly charge, people are turned off. Wake up Ford! Find another way to generate consistent funding.. like selling good quality cars! Focus darn it!

Haha, yeah right. Ford can't even keep vehicles from getting stolen from its own plants.

"2.Please name ONE service/feature being developed that will knock the socks off customers and the media."

Is #2 a series question? Ford has the patent on locking down the car if you miss a lease payment. And will eventually drive itself to the dealership to reposses itself. That is a billion dollar idea.

  1. Please name ONE “smaller subscription feature” we have out there that is enticing customers.
  1. Please name ONE service/feature being developed that will knock the socks off customers and the media.
  1. Please name ONE new service/feature to be launched concurrently with all-new Gen-2 Model e products.

I’ll be waiting for your response. Forever.

People on this forum do not see the big picture Ford leadership is going for. 1.Get some smaller subscription features out there to entice customers. Done. 2. In the background develop services/features that will knock the socks off customers and the media. On-going. 3. Launch new services/features concurrently with all-new Gen-2 Model e products.

Be patient, the company transformation will reach the next stage soon, with #3.

Calm down, we have sold literally dozens of subscriptions. Why is everyone a Debbie Downer on this strategy?

"...but the strategists, planners, business development, execs, etc. that green light this dog sh-t go unscathed. "

So much this..questions should be asked...who told you this was a good idea? What did the market study say? What happened last time you came up with something like this? Results or leave...

I'll tell you this, any subscriptions they claim are free trials. Was on that side of the business for many years. No one was buying Ford subscription services.

Same is true for bluecruise. They just did a price reduction, so the “ROI” they sold the “investment” on is not being realized. What’s crazy to me: it’s always the engineers who are punished with layoffs; but the strategists, planners, business development, execs, etc. that green light this dog sh-t go unscathed. How do you expect people to push hard (especially in engineering) when they see these club members just skate by with zero accountability and making more than double an engineers salary?
