Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Hans the Hypocrit

Hans is going door-to-door on podcasts and inside Verizon touting his leadership skills. Really, Hans? Look at the facts of what you have done at Verizon:

When Vestberg Became CEO (August 1, 2018):
Stock Price: Around $52.08 (based on 2018 year-end data)
Market Capitalization: Approximately $229.1 billion (in October 2018)5

Current Data (October 2024)
Stock Price: $44.01 (as of October 8, 2024)
Market Capitalization: $181.01 billion (as of October 11, 2024)

Comparison...
Since Vestberg took over as CEO:
The stock price has decreased by approximately 15.5%
The market capitalization has decreased by about 21%

If this is success, then you should double my stock options when I do as poorly.

Hans did a great job !!! Drove the price down to $30 from $62 at the same time raised the dividend.

Masterful got the shares cheap at a high dividend yield.

Potter fooled you again unless you work at the savings and loan..

$10,000 invested in VZ on January 1, 2018 would be worth $12,033 as of September 30, 2024, which represents a cumulative return of 20.33%.

VZ is a dividend stock. Yes it's lagging the S&P but total returns since 2018 until today, with dividends reinvested is around 2.7%, and not -15% as you suggest.

Argument is better made when you look at the balance sheet, which shows stagnant revenues, declining return on assets, increasing debt, etc. That's a better measurement of company's health.
