Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Oriskany remote employees

BNY made the decision to close the office spaces in May 2024 and move fully remote.

What happen to Oriskany employees now?

Are they still work from home?

Does BNY still target Oriskany employees after shutting down this location?

I heard from someone who was laid off last year. He received 401k matching contributions.

We’ll probably see a big reduction in force at Oriskany before the end of the year so that the Bank doesn’t have to do 401k contributions. At least 100 let go from various Oriskany LOB’s in the last two months and they have historically been cleaning house in December with higher level Oriskany staff in the last several years. I’d expect a good number let go in December and January for sure.

Oriskany staff have been laid off in waves. Another dept will be sacked very soon with select few staying for now.

Wellesley is very high on the list for office closure. Possibly as early as Summer 2025.

Hiring has been frozen there forever. Replacement requisitions are now filled in other locations (growth centers).

The expectation is that the sack rate will be much higher in that office location (close to 20%) over the new few months than Pittsburgh or Lake Mary.

@pna there is no sub pay reduction - they have decided to let it remain as is (for 2025 at least). However, there are big talks about the health benefits that are being rolled out in the next couple of weeks. Watch for the changes there.

Many sites on the chopping block.

Indicators are:

  • Senior Executives don't visit your office (because they know you are of no use to them anymore, and they are afraid of questions).
  • The Transformation Guru's don't visit your site or think your opinion is important, because you know the Growth Centers know it all!
  • Hire freezes!
  • Shoddy rebranding or none at all
  • The ask from 'Growth Centers' of all that you do...
  • Office locations are not maintained well, pavements and weeds etc...
  • No promotions and or pay rises (all designed to limit severence exposure and nudge employees out).
  • Video conferencing facilities at your site compose of a laptop and webcam
  • etc. etc....

If you realize the above, you can play games!😉

Good luck y'all!!!!

I would think Wilmington would be the next target for closure.

Every Oriskany employee will be let go. Don’t fool yourself thinking they give a sh@t about you or your performance. Bottom line is if you are an Oriskany employee, your days with this cr-ppy company are numbered. Why would they keep you when they can save money with 3 India staff for one Oriskany employee?

Isn’t it totally clear what is going to happen to the employees at Oriskany? It’s been happening. Like lab animals used in medical experiments, they dont get rehomed or repurposed.

Pretty much everyone I’ve interacted with, across multiple LOB’s, have been terminated this past year. My counselor at NYS unemployment office said they’ve had hundreds of cases.
Sounds to me like they’re on target for the 80% projected. They’re saving the best for last. The majority of the remaining employees are core SME’s with long tenures so the bank will wait until the sub pay reduction in 2025 to stick it to them.

Yeah I am hoping to be laid off before the end of the year. I hate they don’t give us any idea when it will happen. Most of our dept is based out of India with some new hires in Pittsburgh and lake Mary. There are just a few functions they need to assign to other people and then my staff won’t be needed anymore. I just see things getting worse and I don’t want to be a part of it.

May 2024??? Our office closed in Dec. 2023 and yes Oriskany has been taking heavy hits in each layoff round since then. It will continue until into 2025 until we're all gone. Rumor has it, they have an 18 month deadline to get rid of everyone.

They’ll be gone after the work has been absorbed in other locations. It’s what they do
