Look at your contract and how much severance you’ll get vs d3 , d6 or d4. It will become a factor on who they’ll hit the hardest. I’m pretty sure d9 gets far more severance pay than the others.

5 years from now, everything will be wireless?

Everything? No.

Maybe "The Last Mile" for the consumer segment will be wireless but commercial circuits will require fiber hand-offs.

Cell towers will be primarily fiber fed in cities. Rural areas will continue using predominantly microwave backhauls for both wireline and mobility due to cost and terrain difficulties.

Prem techs could be eliminated down the road but there'll still to be a need for CO, cable, and microwave work to maintain network elements, cables, and the power plant.

As the needs of the Company change, so do the need for specific titles.
Ask the Comm Techs that were in the SD and SAC NOCs.
That work moved to other regions.
Service Reps thought they were untouchable.
Surprise!!!
Are the Prem Techs and their management next.
ADSL is going going gone, along with Uverse TV.
5 years from now, everything will be wireless?

Look up the title Services Technician I&R.

There are at least two groups in CA full of those titles.

I can't wait for a surplus! Give me the ESB money!!!
