Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Layoffs on November 14?

All day meeting scheduled for leaders, is this just a block of time reserved for laying off and handling the fallout? Seems a little late but is after the 3Q earnings call and pulse survey. Also provides for 30 days till last pay which would be December 20th. Could this be it, or maybe not? Has anyone else heard any rumblings?

Only thing VZ delivers on budget and on time, layoffs.

GTS had layoffs late Sept after Wave 1 of VSP. Those came off book if they did not find another job internally.

Now with VCG/VBG GTS recombining, expect more to come as they look at duplicate functions, etc.

VCG layoffs started today in select workgroups. Not enough people took VSP so now it's not voluntary.

@1urb+1v7Gn4rn - 60 days notifications only for reporting to state unemployment agency

Notifications to employees can be as short as 30 days, another 30 days can be paid in lieu of severance payment

It has to be 60 days before last pay, not 30 which would put it this week at the latest historically. They are still trying to shake through the VSP this year. Any meetings that week would likely be preparation for holiday strategy and promotions.

Fearmongering.....

You can have an all day meeting, not talk about layoffs.
2025 is around the corner
Q1 is around the corner
Holiday seasonal sales are around the corner....

Take your pick - 10x more reasons to meet, other than a layoff.

Does anyone still believe the effectiveness of the Pulse survey? Merely a gesture nowadays. Just look at the results, employee morale, business outcomes, stock prices…

Don’t think they need a meeting for more layoffs in 2024. Not to say there won’t be more layoffs. Probably figuring out any last minute ideas to change revenue trajectory in Q4.
