New Contract

As we move forward with the new contract we will slowly see how much CWA negotiating team lied, and how much they protected their own, OPT. Now that we know OPT can pretty much bump anyone. Just found out I can no longer go to Ascension, if you plan on having any type of surgery in Nashville Tennessee it will be Vanderbilt or Meharry those are your choices. I'm sure we will slowly find more changes in the future that we're not happy about.

“Anyone leaving the union after all this BS? It seems "we" were Sooooo far apart in negotiations, then bo-m, it is back to work. Who caved? Did T loose or did we? What was given up that magically so far apart, to contract return to work?
PS. TOWNHALLS were anunorganized, unprofessional, embarrassing joke.”

Well the 1st thing that happened was the U was having to start paying its picket line walkers.
As far as who caved: The U’s “More in 24” Campaign promised no concessions, no regressions, no givebacks, and chiefly a -25% pay raise and lower monthly healthcare premiums. Neither one of those happened. A few healthcare costs were kept at the same levels as before which the U is spinning as a win, but again falls short of their own goals. T made it just fine with a hurricane in Louisiana & D9 rejecting their TA. You tell me who caved.

CWA leadership only gives a dam about themselves.
Most ppl think the main enemy is the various companies, and while that used to be true, now it's our own Fu***ng union sc--wing us.
They "bargain" in places like Vegas or Hawaii & party away our dollars while having the time of their lives.

CWA hasn't been "for the members" for a very long time.

Also remember, CWA doesn't care if it's an illegal alien or an American paying dues, as long as they get their grubby lil hands on those dollars...

“Dues on the way, Healthcare is nearly status quo for five years and the best general wage increase since I stated over 25 yrs ago. Ask any manager below the c-suite how their benefits, job security, policies and work rules are for them”

We did indeed get a better than previous contracts pay raise, but it pales in comparison to what UPS, UAW, & the east coast box stackers got.
We seem to be out here beating our chest that we didn’t get our rear end split in half on healthcare by merely maintaining amounts on some items while other items increase.
If you want to get excited about a better than average contract, then this may be your best one in a while and the best one you’ll ever see. If you think this contract meets the qualifications of the “more in 24”, no givebacks, no concessions, no regressions agenda line we were sold and sacrificed a months pay for, then you should be gravely disappointed.

The Wire techs & Digital Techs seem to have gotten a nice hosing that nobody seems to want to discuss.
It’s mind boggling that the company p!$$e$ & moans about paying Wire Techs $20something an hour to do a Uverse job yet in the same breath T seems to be tickled $h!tless to pay $80something an hour for 2 Digital Techs to go out and do a Uverse job. Equal work should mean equal pay, either bump up the Wire Techs pay to the same as the DigitalTechs that had this Uverse work forced upon them or take the Uverse work away from the Digital Techs and put it back where it belongs.
The Digital Techs also got the shaft with the new bumping rules allowing lower wage scale OPT & ST to bump into Wage Scale 32, but the Digital Techs STILL are not allowed to bump a Wire Tech as a last resort the same way FT, OPT, & ST can. Again, equal treatment is nowhere to be found.
T & the U seem to be content with the apparent disparaging treatment of Wire Techs and Digital Techs, and apparently the solution is for all of us to remain head down mouth shut.

But the CWA "negotiators" got an extra month of UA time along with per diem for the 5 star hotel rooms and steak dinners. Keep those dues coming in!!!
