What is going on in Edson?? Overstaffed office interesting times
TR up north here is the worst leader I have ever seen….good luck everyone
@ypo+1v8rCT9d how was the severance?
Usually the drive by layoffs carry less severance than the widespread versions since they aren’t flooding the market with multiple like positions.
Brilliant move to lay off 15-20 year geoscientists and engineers and replace them with summer students who graduated from UVIC or UofT…real top notch clastic geology programs and oil & gas engineering schools! We see this all the time from top operators like Tourmaline and CNRL…NOT!!!
They are gradually replacing folks and hiring students thus saving on compensation.
More to come.
Only the Cenovus HR department would lay off and pay out severance for professional technical positions while at the same time be interviewing for several openings of the VERY SAME professional technical positions!!! Is this how HR maintains their own relevance? Tourmaline doesn’t even have an HR department…they have ZERO HR people…check their stock performance relative to Cenovus.
Oh what positions?
Two of my mates on two separate floors were walked out today with no warning it was coming. Cenovus this is terrible when you have a bunch of mid level management sitting at home in pajamas.
Let go today from Calgary office with no warning. Goodbye Cenovus!
Several of us were laid off in the northern corridor. Job was very unsatisfying at Cenovus and poor middle management were so out of touch. Shake ups need to happen at the overpaid middle management level.
Sell all the downstream assets and turn this into a pure play SAGD company. You’d double the share price in no time at all.
Wow - pausing all further investments in downstream can only mean one thing…. Insane.
@fch+1v8rCT9d The majority of postings are for student positions
There’s over 100 job postings. They got rid of a few people due to a re-org.
Haven’t heard. Where are these layoffs happening?
Brutal! In this case, it looks like the captain abandoned ship and left the crew behind to deal with the aftermath. Typical Husky leadership behaviour. Best wishes to everyone affected here.
