Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Interventionist LL6s and LL5s are not the solution to the problem. They are the problem.

It's time to abolish these grades, and let profits soar.

In R&A, for every 2–3 GSRs who are actually doing the work, there are 6–7 clueless LLx individuals who 'manage' and create problems. I hope a voluntary separation package is offered soon

Yep, Ford just added another layer of bureaucracy called Leadership level.... more boat steering with one rower. LL5, LL4, Supervisor, Leader...

All being pushed by QR team.

So you want GSRs to report directly to LL4s? Have you ever met some of the LL4s? Most of them are even more clueless than the LL5s and LL6s that they “manage”.

especially true in IT. You have a handful of GSRs who actually do the work. The LL6s are glorified secretaries doing paper work (approving requests/timesheets/conveying messages from top to bottom in long/meaningless meetings). The LL5 and above are useless just yapping away in meetings for hours. You take the entire LL* and half of GSRs out and everything will still function as if nothing happened.

Yes agree … the org has too many LL layers and would flatten but too late now

Doug and Peter had an opportunity and mandate coming from Apple and Tesla in high profile positions with millions in stock but blew it.

One kept the bunny slippers and the other one bolted off to a company that spins its wheels while going nowhere
