Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Hub Vs Non-Hub locations

If you are in a hub location you get coffee, soft drinks, and food. If you outside of a hub you are lucky to get toilet paper, trash pickup, and hand soap.

People in both hub and non hub locations get treated poorly though.

You just defined the entire ATLAS application built by shadow business IT. Jeremy Legg, wake the fu-k up and do your job. Soon there will be three systems at AT&T: Salesforce. ServiceNow. ATLAS. How many millions have they spent already? For fu--s sakes Jeremey, do your fu--ing job.

Atlanta is 10000x worse. Shootings, car wrecks, psycho drivers who bait the wrecks, squatters.

Ethnicity representation on display and at its finest.

Wrong, we don’t get coffee, soft drinks or food and I’m in Dallas. And actually the cafeteria food is overpriced cr-p, the vending machines carry nearly expired products that are sometimes stale

“Not supposed to do this but can’t in good conscience keep my mouth closed. For everyone at St Louis and Arlington Heights non-hub locations, don’t sweat it. Those locations will not be going away. The waves responsible for extracting employees from those location were targeted and are nearly complete. Target criteria is confidential but a “hypothetically” ranged from age, ethnicity, gender, retirement eligibility , virtual status or poor performance. Once the waves are complete additional employees will be laid off due to performance and AI results. So for those that stick through it and have a good work ethic, where you work today will be where you work tomorrow.”

This is the d-mbest thing I’ve ever heard.
All TDP and ATS in STL were told to relocate by Legg.
I’m late 20’s, good performance, software dev, just got a $12k connection award, and I’m being told to relocate, as are ALL of my friends (similar age, background etc)
You’re an id--t, they’re just firing everyone.

They’re not going to close Arlington. They have been renewing this lease year by year executing their options. While it is true they are purging TechDev, there are business IT teams that need the extra space once they’re gone. Same with Saint Louis.

Business IT? ... good luck with that .... Legg is eventually going su-k them up too ... shadow IT is part of the big problem in this company's financials ... unable to capitalize it, and the business clients see it as free work... meanwhile, instead of making the tough choices based on ROI a bunch of sh&* gets built that adds less value in someone's fiefdom where the same amount of effort elsewhere could have saved millions in another area.

Then again , our company can't effectively manage project budgets and project time reporting is a farce.

Some market support roles and call centers are not in “hubs” and they are allowed to work where they are.

“Their plan is to close arlington heights. I have seen the plan. 2 locations they are looking to move to. I think it was called park ridge and another office downtown.”

The plan was to close the office and remove the footprint in Illinois.
They lied once more. Will they bring back all our peers that they told to move to Atlanta or be fired? No. They laid them off because they were old.

“Ummm, wasn’t everyone is a non hub supposed to be laid off?
What happened, did leadership lie again?”

When don’t they lie? As with last location based layoff, they purged enough people and then came out and said they cut to the bone and nearly a word was spoken when they dropped it. That after rebadging and laying off thousands of employees.

As for the business IT, plans already in place to catch those managers and employees with technical title. I was jist warned about it this week when interviewing for a job. Those folks need to get rid of those -Technology titles and software engineer.

The St. Louis office in my opinion is one the best locations out of all the offices I visited. The other thing it has going for it is that it has a strategic data center right next door, parking garage attached, and a big CO in the basement. 1% is a pain but its cheaper than living in dallas. I have been in dallas many times this year, the homelessness is overwhelming and people use the discovery zone as a restroom. It’s over crowded and plano is like a chaotic call center. U cant possible think with all the noise.

They also need to consider employee cost in some of these areas. STL is still a zone 2 market which can give some significant salary savings. If the job market turns around places like dallas/ATL will have a harder time attracting talent as AT&T reputation has taken so many hits. Just go to LI and see how many people complain about ATT.

Legg and co ki-led STL.
3 day RTO etc and maybe even 5 wouldn’t be so bad, there’s parking, it isn’t packed, places to sit, etc - but instead they’re trying to get us all to relocate.
Nope.

st louis is a non-hub. bathrooms in 1010 pine and 801 are pristine, full of toilet paper. walls all freshly painted. trash cans emptied. unarmed guards posted at entrances. coffee keurig things on 1010 pine 17 and 15 (I think). no soft drinks that I'm aware of, but that stuff is unhealthy anyway. local sandwich shop sells sandwiches in 1010 pine or you can get the best sub anywhere at Planet Sub. Try the toasted italian. Walking distance to the best breakfast diner you've ever been to or Sauce on the Side for lunch. Or food trucks at the park. Huge conf rooms, 10-15 huddle rooms per floor. free garage parking with a bridge to 1010 pine. you gotta walk to 801. the floor on 14 is so big and spacious that people walk laps in the auditorium. great views of downtown, but not so much the arch. the old one bell blocks the view of the arch, but you can see ambulances and police zipping around from the hospital and police department right next door. during the summer, the outside park has live music.

Att turned its back on St Louis, but man is it a great place to have an office. Great office, great surrounding restaurants. Traffic isn't bad, just get out before the Cardinals, Blues, or STLCity games get going. lots of gripes about crime, but there are specific spots downtown at 2am you shouldn't be out walking (same or even safer than Dallas and Atlanta). you don't really run into that if you are walking from a garage across a glass enclosed bridge right into the 4th floor like I have.

Legg crafted a delusional, negative image about St Louis and armed guards, which was a lie, which spread around like crazy. only thing St Louis ATT employees were mad about was the 1% earnings tax. Big deal. Oh well, lots of major talent gains from area finance and health employers. See ya St Louis!

"bring your own toilet paper, hand soap, and dump the trash when you leave? "

Yep, and don't shake anyone's hand. Certain types go into the restrooms with active calls, and everyone can hear the flushes. They forget to mute. I don't think they use any TP since there is none and they don't wash their hands.

The gas station down the street has a cleaner restroom so I would go there except for the extra badging. So I bring my own TP and soap in a discrete case.

being in a non-hub location, we actually have free parking. and plenty of it.
We just have to wonder when we get the 'you must move' memo.

but i agree. trash service? nonexistant. water fountain? probably would fail a epa test. asbestos? guaranteed.

Been in a Hub location since forever, never seen anyone be treated poorly. Lots of hate and discontent on here, very few facts to substantiate the wild claims made on this forum. It seems a few want the rest of company to be as miserable. This company may not be a good fit for you.

A kind group of women supply our hand soap from Walmart/target. Non Hub here.

Trash pickup is hit or miss. Desks, if they have a monitor, is a fuzzy first gen 4:3 thick LCD that may or may not work. Bring your own cables and adapters.

No keyboard, mouse or phone. Dust is an inch thick on cabinets. Dirty vents.

No coffee or water obviously.

:::sigh::
