Thread regarding Ford layoffs

If I got meets expectations on mid year, can I get fired on full year review?

Most of the categories I got meet but I got below expectations on 2 of them.

Not sure what to expect or if I should anticipate a PIP

You can get fired for any reason, at any time.

Yes. Your PR rating is irrelevant.

You will most likely be promoted to an LL6.

Your supervisor is setting you up for a layoff. It’s easier to get another job while still employed. So take the hint and start interviewing.

I haven't heard of PIPs being used to any great extent or at all in the past year or so, but the few that I did hear about were used for people who were basically sitting around doing nothing, not that doing nothing is a golden ticket to being separated. My take on PRs, with no inside information, they are mostly a tool for raises and bonus allotment. Certainly they could be used to justify involuntary or voluntary separations, but as others have pointed out, performance hasn't necessartily been the single factor used (e.g. pension eligible, not F&F, in an area no longer important, etc). Just remember, most every section has at least one person rated inconsistently met.

You are an at-will employee not represented by a union. You can be terminated for any reason or no reason at all. The only exception, is if you are in a protected class.

An illegal basis for termination includes firing based on protected categories, including race and national origin, religion, s-x, age (if over 40), and disability.

I think none of it matters, for the most part. If they want to get rid of you, it is something they can use... or not.

I had good performance reviews.
No major problems noted (managers always feel obligated to throw in something negative).
Didn't help. Got canned in June 2023.

If I had any clue that there was a problem, I could have tried to jump to one of 3 other job openings I qualified for. They didn't even give a chance.
