Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Quiet quitting

AT&T should increase efforts to remove these employees who make a minimal contribution and in doing so encourage others to quiet quit through either passive or active means. We've lost so many truly productive contributors over the past few years. We can certainly absorb the loss of the remaining detractors. We are already carrying their workloads.

"Can we leave Jeremy Leggs name off the board please?"

Someone going full Will Smith. 'Keep my bosses name out of your f*cking mouth.'

If Stankey can "quiet quit " and line his pockets , then we are just following the supreme one's example. Good for the goose, good for the gander...

Can we leave Jeremy Leggs name off the board please?

Its bad enough that we feel like sh-t but do we have to make him feel like sh-t to?
He may be the CTO but he is just as powerless in this as the rest of us.
I’m almost certain he would let people work at home if the CEO would allow it.
What if Jeremy Legg is just as caught up in this whole thing as we are?

lol, this has to be a joke. News flash: he’s a garbage corporate piece of cr-p, not the fun and kind executive you think he is just because he swears in town halls and does id--tic “comedy” to make himself look like the cool teacher. If you don’t want to see stuff about him, get off this board and hang out with the a-s-kissers somewhere else. He deserves to “feel like sh-t” because he is sh-t.

I remember a while back when the top brass id--t leaders came up with some theory based on a study that younger developers are happy to work for free. They wanted to introduce gamification and leaderboards. Even pathetic Jeremy Legg started doing bounties on programming issues or improvements. Great, we get a bounty award if we win. Fu-k you Jeremy Legg. I work for my money. Not at the office though. I fu-k around in the office and I do my work at home. Once five days comes around I’m gone. I’m not holding my breath though. You haven’t accomplished a single thing since you were hired as CTO except fire people. Sorry, I forgot that you are building another API repository, the 10th one in existence. Pathetic a--hole.

I converted from productive to non productive. don't forget that productivity isn't an inherent trait. most likely, the bandaid is now torn off and the only choice leadership has now is to force everyone in 5 days per week. they knew at 3 days that they were destroying trust.

they don't trust that they can ever get back the workforce's trust, so, 5 days per week is here to stay. you can't put the toothpaste back in the tube I'm afraid.

“ We are already carrying their workloads”

You couldn’t carry a cheeseburger from a drive-thru! Go ahead and grab your knee pads & chin guard for your “leadership” lords.

Agree with the OP. A wealth of knowledge has been walked out the door. It was a mistake to not better assess the quality of the workforce, and remove the sh*tbirds first. It will only take 30 years to undo the damage.

"why is there such an apparent lack of accountability for full-time remote workers when there is such scrutiny over whether every day Joe's are spending 7.75 vs 8 hours in the office"

You answered your own question. It's the good old boys club. Four people on my team live in the same general area NW of Atlanta. Two are somehow full time remote while the other two are slogging to the office three days each week, as are the rest of our team. The two full time remote workers are old drinking buddies with our L3, and came from the same company. File a complaint? Yeah, right. This arrangement was approved at L4-5.

Quiet Quitter here.
Firstly, shut your face, Secondly, I’m taking a deuce and on a call with that drunk sounding AVP broad that can’t put two sentences together. Next meeting is with the VP that must have an adrenal gland issue and could use a shot of hemoglobin to wake his a-s up when he talks. Fudge! That’s just the first quarter of my day. After sitting on calls with those two losers supposedly leading me, you are telling me that I should do more than them? Wiping my a$$ will probably go a long way proving I am more competent than they are.

So if you please my fellow inmate, allow me to quit quietly because if you examine the rest of the chain of command above them, it sure as Fudge doesn’t get any better, smarter, or anything to inspire. Collecting my paycheck just like they are. so eat my Fudge and go about your business like I am doing right now.

They also need to take a closer look at those required to come in to an office only one day per month. My team relies heavily on a team under a different L5, and that team has 6 employees who have all but disappeared except for cashing a paycheck. This has gone up to our L5 several times in the past year. It has a huge negative impact on customers, and our L5 has tried to have that work transitioned to our team to mitigate the negative impact for customers. The other L5 refuses to acknowledge the problem, and says the 6 employees in question have received exceptional annual ratings for the past 15-18 years. I guess this meets the good old boy criteria for full-time remote work. And no, raising the question did not make those 6 employees suddenly appear from the ether. They know they are being protected. Even their coworkers have complained and received a passively threatening response. My question, and that of my team, is why is there such an apparent lack of accountability for full-time remote workers when there is such scrutiny over whether every day Joe's are spending 7.75 vs 8 hours in the office

They created this problem themselves so don't expect them to figure out how to solve it.

Had they not taken away retirement benefits, many of us would have left on our own but now I'll ride it out giving them as much care as they gave me.

Have you been letting department leadership know who isn’t actively contributing to the team?
