Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

I feel so discouraged

Started a new job and even took a pay cut for it just to get away from BNY and now I'm regretting it. I started on Monday and ran into problems immediately because HR hadn’t even finished my paperwork. My manager gives zero clarity on anything, and some coworkers are straight-up intimidating. Not to mention, people keep claiming they’ve “stopped by” my office when I’ve literally been there all day. This is a medium-size company. I feel like I made a huge mistake.

Check out the post after yours. That glorious team seems to be understaffed, perhaps you can go work there. But be prepared, because they seem adverse to following company policy that is not yet in effect.

Look at it as an opportunity to do things your own way. Don’t worry about the lack of guidance from your boss and just start taking initiative. If you’re competent, that will be appreciated and eventually will get you recognition you wouldn’t have gotten otherwise.

I don’t think any of this true and you’re just trolling those of us who can’t stand it here and want to leave.

For crying out loud you just started there. Focus on your strengths and be assertive. No one is going to baby sit you. There are three certainties - one: leaving BNY is not a mistake two- there is no perfect place and three: all banks and fintechs are sweat shop horror shows now..you didnt land in one of those did you?

I've been through the same thing twice but internally at BNY. Starting a new job is tough, hang in there as it gets better.
Although it feels like you made a mistake, think about all the reasons why you left in the first place.
Give it 6 months if it doesnt work out, look for something else.
