Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Phone stores empty....nobody buying online

Last time I went to a phone store was last week. the stores are empty. I also don't buy new phones online either. So the demand is not there for any telco. The telco revenue must continue to drop. So as old people pass away, the phone lines will also be cut. Telco revenue will not stop dropping. I don't think this industry has any future. I keep my older phones. When one fails, I just bring back the older one. People do the same if you want to save money for what is coming. Keep cutting spending.

There's always a line by me. So either it's busy or they're slow as heck. You can easily convince of the second option

"but margin is the big deal"

Yes, but the key is that Stank does not know how to actually grow a company. Every company he has touched lost revenue . . . He ki-led TW by going all in on streaming, and it ended up reducing revenue for all aspects of the company. So, margin counts and Stank will do the only thing he knows how to do, and that is cut expenses, and that is all employees are to him, an expense.

You are right. The high inflation is causing the phone and plan prices to be unaffordable. I often buy a used phone online or from a friend. That might be why the phone stores are empty.

"telco revenue must continue to drop" possibly, but margin is the big deal.

I keep my phone until it dies. A new one is $1000+ dollars. (Nearly half of one paycheck). It's a phone not a car payment.

Guess I am a Grandpa also. Always kept my phones for 4-5 years as they were fully functional for what I needed or wanted to do on one. In fact downgraded to cheaper ones. Don’t do excel spreadsheets or worry about taking the crispest picture of a mole on a baby’s behind. Put a protective case on it and for all intents and purposes I have a IPhone 26. Spoke with a young man who does the yearly thing. Said he doesn’t know how or plan to use the latest widgets but it has become a status symbol in his group.

People are holding onto their phones longer. Facts are facts and we have a bad economy. Buy groceries or get the latest iPhone? It doesn't help when store reps are being forced to slam features for revenue growth.

lol have you seen AT&T earnings. There is no problem. This company is doing fine and will be around for another 20 years or 100 years.

Phones got way too expensive. $1500 for a Galaxy Fold is absurd. I remember when I could get a flagship phone for less than a third of that price. People are spending the equivalent of a month of groceries just to commute to work. They don't nave money for shish high price phones.

The T Mobile kiosk at Costco is popping! Plenty of our customers are fed up with billing issues and seeking a lower MRC. That’s where I’d go without an EMO discount!

oh ya, it was vaders idea to not give customers the brick with their device. Ya, T actually manufacturers devices. uh huh. Stores are empty because we all buy online. T makes more money off the consumer that way anyways. And as for the shady practices going on right now - they created the beast, the employees in the store and just tryin to keep their head above the water.

Stores are empty due to very sc-mmy and scam like business practices, AT&T started to scam loyal customers for example: new devices do not come with power brick, apple’s genuine brick is $19.99 while for the same AT&T is charging $29.99 for AT&T branded bogus stuff. Every store got new stickers to raise prices on existing accessories that has been sitting in the stores since the days of Adam and eve. They must have hired some real miserable losers in upper management to go down on these levels of scamming customers. At the end consumers are not stupid they spot the bullsh-t and staying the fu-k away
