Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

The best LinkedIn post I've read in a long while

"No one wants to work. Our turnover is terrible."
Did you give raises over 7%, the rate of inflation, so workers got ahead? "No"
Did you give larger raises and bonuses to execs than others? "Well, yes, but..."
Did you ask people to pick up slack for those who left? "We had t..."
Did you force people to come back into the office who didn't feel safe doing so? "I mean, we..."
Did you cut budget for training or shift expenses to employees working from home? "Like other com..."
Did you ask people to do more with less? "Like every yea..."
Did you install digital tools to spy on employees working from home? "We need to ensu..."
Did you threaten to take salary away from remote workers who relocated? "We assess the cost of liv..."
Sounds to me like people want to work, you've just made it unpalatable to work for you.

You laugh at some pretty stupid things. In any event, people tend to take things personally when you lie to their face and then behave in such a way that you believe that your employees are to stupid to know that you're lying when it's obvious.

I'd be pretty happy with a completely honest business relationship with my employer. That's not what we have here. These people are nothing but self serving hypocrites and liars that fail even the most basic tests of leadership. There's ways to effectively manage a company though significant change, including large scale downsizing. Shart refuses. He'd rather be an insufferable c&nt. It's completely unnecessary and detrimental the the performance of the company.

It's easy to boil everyone else's motives down to rage when you think you and your viewpoint are superior.

This guy gets it and it's funny he's being down voted. Nobody likes the hard truth. It's no coincidence the whiners don't grow

Nothing else matters, you don't like something you remove yourself from the equation. I am currently surrounded by so many angry people in the Wells Fargo workspace (virtual, all the in-person I meet seem fine) that it makes me laugh. I laugh at them for taking this personally, I laugh at them for thinking any employment is some sort of life long emotional marriage contract, I laugh at how much of everything they waste right now on being angry.

They are so blinded by rage they can't see how this is affecting them physically and emotionally. And it always carry's over into personal life. This is just a job, that's it.

For WF it's not about supporting the local economy or getting value out of existing buildings. Evidence? WF is selling / breaking leases on hundreds and hundreds of buildings. You can't close 80% of your admin buildings, many at a steep loss, and claim you're supporting the commercial real estate market or the local economy. What about the local economy of Portland, Boise, Denver, Atlanta, Miami, and all the other cities that WF used to have a real presence in?

It's all about downsizing people and motivating people to quit on their own so they don't have to pay them severance. That's the whole objective and there is no 1A.

I wouldn't mind going into the office if I had an actual team to work with. But to have my working from home privileges of the last 10 years was a kick in the nuts. Makes absolutely no sense.

@ryr+1vCyZpa4 There are ways of measuring productivity w/out mouse movement tracking. Many of us have no need to be in the office b/c we don't work with anybody in our offices. Many people were hired as Remote workers with that being a stipulation of getting the job. Again-- if they were ok being in a remote role, why force people to move?

Everybody going remote during COVID showed that we can be productive and still work remote. RTO is not about productivity, it's about using real estate we pay for and to support local businesses in large city corporate offices.

Ridiculous post. If people working from home actually were working, there wouldn't be a need to check. I loved working from home while it lasted but you had to know it was temporary. This is a company! If they haven’t done enough to make you happy and feel safe- then find the door. Good lord, grow up

Do you exclude people from promotions and opportunities based on their ethnicity? “I was born to a middle class…”

Half of those are just whining though.

Force people I to offices that didn't feel safe? GTFO. That's a terrible excuse.

7% raises? Terrible question except why did Charlie get a bump.

Install digital tools to spy? How naive is someone to think that these tools haven't been installed for 15 years?

Cut budget for training or shift expenses to work from home? WTF does that even mean?

Did you instruct your middle managers to attempt to drive up voluntary attrition by scrupulous practices of creating unsubstantiated and fake annual employee reviews? YES!!!!!

Did you attempt to drive out waste and beaucracy by reducing layers of management? YES, but we were not successful because middle management resisted and created roadblocks to protect their turf and their friends’ jobs.
