Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Enough is Enough Unionize L1 & L2

We’ve all had it. Forced return-to-work policies that disrupt our lives for no reason. Being scrutinized based on feelings instead of facts. Unrealistic targets set by bad data. Policies that drag down productivity instead of supporting us.

Meanwhile, there’s a surplus of overpaid managers while critical work gets outsourced to cheaper resources, costing us efficiency and destroying tribal knowledge. We’re left cleaning up the mess while they profit off our hard work.

We deserve better. A union means fair treatment, real accountability, and a seat at the table.

Let’s stop letting them push us around.

The ball headed jerkff at the helm is simply getting revenge for all the criticism he has received. The ball headed smurf knows he is hated and he loves it. He loves it so much he is sticking around to drive the dagger in deeper. Yes we r talking about the worst leader AT&T has ever had. The stink finger Johnny boy!!!

You want to unionize so you don't have to go to work? lol wow

The NLRB won't accept your petition to unionize. As long as you have one managerial duty: Hiring, firing, discipline, scheduling etc...AT&T will have an easy time fighting an organizing drive.

HR calls office workers "managers" and "supervisors" to intentionally mislead employees about their eligibility for coverage under the NLRA. The reality is, most are not actual supervisory roles and are thus eligible to petition.

It's essentially a lie the company perpetuates because it's not illegal to do so.

“ The NLRB won't accept your petition to unionize. As long as you have one managerial duty: Hiring, firing, discipline, scheduling etc...”

That’s what the field guys don’t understand, we don’t do any of that. I’m just an office worker. I have no control over anyone. We are just worker bees and that’s it. They just claim us as exempt so they can have ultimate control over us, otherwise this place falls apart if we aren’t doing things like processing payroll, writing code, overseeing and fixing backend systems, we don’t manage anyone. We aren’t management.

Wrong. Many L2s have no such powers. And regarding the whole it wouldn’t change RTO and the like, wrong again. That’s a work rule. That can be negotiated. Bonuses, hours etc can be negotiated.

Layoffs, that can’t be negotiated, though who gets cut, maybe.

Some director wants some stupid slide for some stupid ‘critical’ meeting that will be forgotten about in a week if not less. go pay me overtime if I need to stay late. Look, if you want track my hours, track keystrokes, tell me I need to waste time and money going to an office so that I can sit on Teams calls all day, then I have no problem organizing and standing up to these id--ts.

And to these people saying that a union would value seniority over talent, I haven’t seen someone in my group promoted in over 2 years so what do I care about that.

Let’s f’ing do this.

Just what we need. Another layer of red tape and a union to su-k up dues every paycheck, basing everything on seniority, rewarding mediocrity, and discouraging those who go above and beyond. No thanks. If you think a union will protect WFH, your job, work hours, or stop layoffs from happening in the first place, then I've got some ocean front property in Arizona to sell you.

The union workforce has to be in office 5 days a week. The scant few members that got to wfh were rto’d over 2 years ago. Each job we are assigned has a time associated with that and it equates to an efficiency measure. Your lunch break in infor has to match to the minute with your time away from your desk for those on the phones. You wouldn’t like the union if you have any job freedoms at all you will lose all those in the union. You know what they say about the grass being greener.

A union will do nothing for RTO. As for efficiency- collective bargaining agreements explicitly state that business decisions are the company’s. All a union will do is to disperse bonus and merit raise among less productive workers

Pass or fail, a vote will send the right message.

We must vote or we will all be gone.

I see the pro union folks are clearing caches and downvoting anything against the idea.

You’ll never get a majority. There are way too many butt kissers. Look at the town halls. Look at the comments on anything from leadership. It’s gross.

That said, I maintain that this is not the answer. But I’m at a “stage of life” where one way or another I am gone in the next couple years anyway. So good luck.

From the looks of the votes on this post, it’s clear the majority want representation subsequent to years of poor treatment from the company.

Can’t say I disagree. Let’s put it to a vote.

It’s not the answer. If you want / need to stay, just stick it out until this starts to fade away. Which it will.

You either trust the company to make decisions in your best interest or you believe a third party arbitrator who negotiates a contract every few years with the company in your best interests.

Ask yourself which they would prefer. Then choose the opposite.

Come on people. This is easy. They’ve gone too far

It’s simple.

  1. You trust the company to make decisions in your best interests

Or

  1. You want a third party who negotiated a contract every 3 years in your best interests.

Which one do you think THEY want? Then choose the opposite.

Easy
