Got any tips for dodging gossip and steering clear of all the office drama? I’ve tried ignoring it or walking away when people drag me into their stuff, but it hasn’t worked. I’d prefer not to come off as rude, but right now, that feels like my only option.

Obviously you are not too busy… otherwise use that as an excuse.
So.... do tell. Any changes after reading the posts here?
I steer away and am usually the quiet one in the group. Of course I get gossiped on because they think I'm weird or an odd ball
All of these --- go get water. fake look at your wrist (even if you've never worn a watch) and shreek, "oh my gosh, I'm late for my call"; excuse yourself and head to the restroom, fake wave to someone down the hall then follow them around te corner... be creative makea game of it, how many ways can you come up with? The possibilities are endless...
Gossip-mongers are such a time-su-k. Every minute I waste with them is one minute added to my work day. No thanks.
I was so much more productive during covid lockdown.

Don’t interact. Wear earbuds. Walk away.
Get water when conversations turn to gossip. Works for me!
Be as professional as possible. Never get to the point of burning all your bridges. Think of a good excuse to leave. Fake conference calls are a good thing. When all else fails, walk away without saying a word. That usually leaves the group confused and speechless. They should get the point in short order.
