Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Does T even care about retaining some talent?

With layoffs, attrition and RTO, all I’ve seen was T literally shedding competent people. If leadership wants to downsize and reduce costs by having less people on the payroll, fine. But how does it make any sense to have all talent, people with experience and work ethics, slip through their fingers?

I can tell you most of the area managers and L3's and above don't have a clue what the technical people below them even do. This is a fact! They are cutting people that would take years to train someone new even if the person they just cut was there and would train them.

The majority of the folks who declined the RTO relocation under my VP were highly technical individuals with skills that were most critical to the company. After they left, the ADs and directors were scrambling to fill the gap in vain(no backfill allowed), leading to many projects being put on hold.

T doesn't care or know who you are; just do your job and get paid. A bunch of people think they are managers and CEOs, but you should just focus on what you are being paid to do.

Employee talent is not on the balance sheet. Only employee payroll as an expense is on the balance sheet.

The overwhelming general consensus is that the company no longer cares about its employees and in fact is aggressively attacking us.

So the question remains, what will your reaction be?

Are you powerless?

Or do you have the ability to collectively bargain for your own interests?

There was a time when the company actually operated with us in mind. That is clearly no longer the case.

Look around-those virtual workers at non-hub locations are the talent that they want to keep. The rest who were asked to move are dispensable.

They don't care. They intend to outsource everything that would be produced by anyone with talent or skills. The first step is to get rid of people, then you farm out whatever work remains to contractors, largely offshore ones.

They do not care. We are all just an expense that needs to be reduced to make the margin Stank has promised because Stank is not capable of growing a company. Every company he touched has shrunk in value and revenue. The only reason T stock is increasing is because Stank is maintaing margin while the revenue goes down.
