Has Anyone Actually Taken the Ford Paid Paternity Leave

I find this hard to believe anyone would actually take this. It seems the culture would frown on this.

I knew a guy that took it twice. And then was laid off on Aug. 22 2022.

Just did recently, had no issues. Made sure to set expectations, created a ramp down plan before I left and had a document with everything written down in case something was needed. Felt weird though.

I had a coworker that had 2 kids.... took paternity then cam back TWA.... Was a good worker who probably put in more time that TWA required. She was let go on Aug 2022 with the rest of us just shy of 30 yrs. She was heartbroken for the dedication she gave to Ford.

All of us said no way... she was one of the good ones...

The only good was she probably got a little more in lump sum in 2022 which help offset the loss in overall pension if she would have waited and retired a few years later.

Take Ford for all it gives and never expect anything in return.

My exit interview was a joke...I could have been on the verge of discovering the engine that runs on water and they would not have cared.

Thank god for the lump sum option...

A lot of my old coworkers have used this, but they still worked from home for CYA reasons. People just felt uneasy enough to fully take advantage of this.

Many in my department have taken it without issue. My direct reports have as well, this is never a concern. Everyone supports each other to pickup the slack.

Depends on your team. Of you have a bunch of jealous loosers they will just backstab you during the time you are off.
Typical ford culture.

is there any conditions for paternity leave such as some years to work in the company after the leave otherwise pay back certain amount of the salary paid during the paternity leave?

Plenty of people in our group have taken it and they were all supported by their team and people leaders. No issues at all.

I telecommuted and worked TWA in the late 90s when the kids were young.

No. If you have it take it. If the culture frowns on it ( which it won't), flip that culture the bird and take it anyway. Having kids is more important than any project(s) at Ford. They actually have a good family leave program.

I’ve taken it for both my kids and used the ramp-up time offered as well. Never had an issue with my management. Developed a leave plan with my manager and team to make sure projects moved forward while I was away.
