The new head of AT&T Federal just came over from Microsoft. Probably more about bringing in someone that has a good reputation and relationships with Republican government decision makers for the next 4yrs as the US Government is one of ATT’s biggest accounts.

Cloud servers need to be close to the end user. The closer they are the less latency and the user experience is better. Microsoft cloud revenue is unbelievable like multiple billions per quarter but requires expensive data centers that are 100s of miles from the end user. These data centers require batteries and generators and air conditioned floor space similar to our central offices.
