Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Ever wonder why so many great workers end up quitting?

AT&T proves the saying that "people don’t quit companies, they quit managers." Here, managers are:

  • too busy climbing the ladder to care about their team or the company’s success,
  • promoted based on connections, not actual skill or knowledge, or
  • thrust into management with no training or preparation.

It’s a textbook case of poor leadership driving away top talent.

Nobody ever quits AT&T. They can't get people to leave/retire.

Management manage up, people that report to them are a nuisance. There are a few good managers, but this is the culture.

I can't quit. I don't have the skills needed for any other job.

I’m sure there is a certain degree of truth to the post, but we waste time trying to find and place blame. We are better off identifying areas that need improvement, implementing real solutions and leading by example. Don’t just complain about the status quo, shows us something better.

" ...Here, managers are: too busy climbing the ladder ..."

Uh, I am a L2 Caucasian dude in the target age range, reporting to a L2 Caucasian dude in the target age range.

There is no ladder climbing going on here, I can assure you.

Unquailfied people are running t now because of their white privilege. Doesnt take a genius to realize who is unqualified taking us trilliions of dollars in debt. Laying off people by the 10s of thousands because of their unqualified business decisions. These are facts based on the numbers of type of people running t, debt load and layoffs.

Question, why do you "great workers" require a babysitter? You choose to pi-s and moan whether you have oversight, or not. You are unhappy unless you are complaining. Grow up!

That’s what happens when you promote unqualified people to meet DEI metrics so you can pander to less than 20% of the country.
