Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

The gist of today’s investor call….

Keep technicians from touching the network.

They are more costly and cause more trouble than they are worth.

Customer Self Install is the future.

“ this started with the dumazz randy he bought direct tv, and time Warner and tried buying T-mobile and then sold them for pennies on the dollar!!”

Yeah RS made some extremely stupid decisions trying to be the next Whitacre. Looks like JS has dismantled every initiative that RS started. It’s interesting that JS gets blamed for those decisions. Wonder who even remembers Whitacres 2nd in command because he was successful and got the credit. (His decisions) RS’s decisions imploded and now JS made those decisions.

Was a tech back in the dark ages (copper). Went into a lot of terminals where the pairs were so degraded that it was impossible not to cause problems. Nephew moved into fibered apartment. Basically took him 10 minutes to set up his Wi-Fi. My neighborhood is fibered. Can count on one hand the number of times I have seen a technicians parked at someone’s house in the past year. Rain has little to no effect. The proper facilities does save a huge amount of money.

Let’s recap the times in the past where big J has gone “all in” and see how that worked for him.

  1. Satellite - bought high, ruined, sold low.
  2. Content - bought high, hacked it into misery, sold low
  3. Wireless - back to basics! Now the 3rd provider in the US. Embarrassing.
  4. Fiber - ??

We all know how the story goes. Nothing changes.

They cut on one side of the house and give multi millions to Accenture to build
Systems for network billing… it’s all so disconnected and…I agree with the person who laughed at self install … DSL claimed
That years ago… bottom line: T desperately trying to move the stock needle for more exec payouts for those planning to leave on March

That’s exactly what I would do if I wanted to stay in business. Lol. The network is falling apart.

“I have multiple central offices. A technician. My grubby little hands are touching the network every day”

Sounds like you will be retired in place in the next 4 years.

Problem solved.

Pascal says they are going to be focused on force and benefits (read: reductions).

T can’t self-service anything. It’s code for “laying off the most skilled people we can and make it the customer’s problem”.

Just your fiber connection.

Must have a tech working in your neighborhood.

Lol

AT&T is anything but successful in self service.

I had a tech dispatched out at least 5 times a year "trying to find a good pair."

Went with Starlink and it's goodbye AT&T forever.

Cr-p service. Good luck.
