Don't forget to turn your cameras on during meetings.
Yes, it's like jingling a ring of keys in front of a toddler and making funny noises to keep their attention.
But that's what our "leaders" need to feel secure in themselves, so... 🤷

The camera is distracting but necessary because people “join” calls and walk away from the computer. Another reason we had to RTO. It’s disgusting that talented people are let go when it’s impossible to fire sc-m.
Nonverbal communication is a thing, and unless you're a professional actor it's something that most people do subconsciously and in many situations to their detriment. Stripping it away to the purity of the words people are actually saying is beneficial. No cameras also greatly reduces biases. If the only thing you have 'to judge' is the thoughts themselves, that's a good thing. I don't use cameras in meetings. If you want to, go for it. I don't pay attention to it anyway, but if it makes you feel better, 'ok'.
You guys realize that nonverbal communication is greater than verbal?

@3sfm+1vOWVe2M Please explain how exactly having a camera on has a positive effect on “connection and collaboration”.
I really don’t care if some people want to have their camera on, that’s cool, but it should be 100% optional and there should not be any pressure to be on camera if you prefer not to.
What policy is that?
Cameras are meant to encourage connection and collaboration so it improves, you know, team morale and purpose. Sounds like most of the folks here are a joy to work with.
F cameras and F those people who think Teams should be used for checking online presence. That is not what these tools were designed for.
Stop whipping up useless topics.
Not using it. Besides, do you really want to see my "are you stupid?" expression when you say something d-mb?
Waste of bandwidth in large meetings. Bandwidth that we don’t have with everything on cloud.
Teams can get ppl to work from
Anywhere . It is impossible to get folks colocated so this is the next best thing.
My team also requires camera on. The reason is control, nothing else.
Waste of time, like most ideas coming down from the top.
I hate being in large meetings when everyone has their camera on. It equates to a bunch of small squares on the screen where you can barely make out anyone’s faces. It’s distracting and adds no value at all. Not sure why it is now so important to some managers when we were all fine with regular audio calls in the days before teams.
Happy my current team doesn't require it yet.....
You should have your camera on or are you hiding something?
I have never gone on camera, nor will I ever. I also hide everyone so I don’t have to see them falling asleep during the meeting.
Cool, cool...
How is this related to layoffs again?
