Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

10% of my org has resigned

Since we were advised of 5 days in office next year and we could not afford to lose them. The knowledge and expertise cannot be replaced by a new hire. It would take years of training just to be a beginner, let alone experts as these employees were.

With the sheer number of employees near retirement and leaving very soon, I don’t see how we’ll be able to perform our mission critical roles if many more decide to leave.

“Another mindless id--t statement by someone who is removed from the reality of the gravity of impact to employees who have had to move and leave family behind to keep their job.”

I must politely ask if you were asleep under a rock when clear, concise rumors of an eventual 5 day RTO requirement was all the buzz for 6-8 months now. 3 day RTO, like everything else here, was just the start. Why would you leave your family for 3 days and fly back home when you know that this arrangement is very temporary.
Many people are saying they are going to cap severance now also.

“Most with the intent to be in a hub 3 days then travel and work from home two days through the weekend and then return to said hub and rented apartment or room.”
This was never the intent of RTO. What if after hours emergencies had come up during periods back home?

If any employees are quitting simply due to the requirement of working in a physical office, don’t let the door hit you where the good Lord split you!

oh no! Not all the top performers. What will we ever do?

Yep, the sentence above just about sums of the ignorance of some non-technical management dimwits who are clueless.....

10% of my org was FTW’d with half of that declining and getting laid off.

There isn’t anything the org can do about it. Stank’s orders.

The allocations team is off payroll next Friday. The system/process implemented to replace the team still does not work. ATT does not care.

The best part is I guarantee their supervisor calls them with questions after they leave.

“ Ain’t this the truth. The automation is so bad, you have twice as much work to do just fixing what the automation gets wrong every single day.”

What automation are you referring to?

Let it fail. It’s the only way things will turn around. Stop doing all the extra to keep things going. Let it fail.

My group lost 2 out of 8. Thinking of joining them now as not sure how we're going to pick up their work, much less their expertise.

Sad what this place has become. Morale is in the sh1tter and the Stank beats off to it. Queue the Stank in his Christmas jammies to lift everyone's spirits with a heartfelt holiday appreciation "for all we do" in 3 ... 2 .... 1

Automation doesn’t fix anything. Just filters out stuff they don’t want to work on.

“Don’t worry they are replacing a lot of positions with inefficient and terrible automated systems/software along with moving support offshore.”

Ain’t this the truth. The automation is so bad, you have twice as much work to do just fixing what the automation gets wrong every single day.

Best part is the people who created the automation are the ones leaving and when it breaks there no one left to fix it!

Imbeciles!

Employee reductions are wanted and have been expected. As RTO gets all employees closer to consistent 40-hour minimum work weeks, remaining managers will be expected to cover tasks from those gone.

They really don't care. You should all take medical leave and prove it to them then.

Verified boomer comment.
Discarded opinion.

A more boomer thing has never been spoken by any human who has ever set foot on earth.
No one born after 1950 has ever said “where the good lord split you”.
What you think doesn’t matter.

So one in a group of 10 employees is nothing. That’s ok and exactly what they are hoping for. It should actually be 20% resignation to make the numbers and revenue/employee rate higher.
Besides They.don’t.care.

Don’t worry they are replacing a lot of positions with inefficient and terrible automated systems/software along with moving support offshore. What a joke, more micromanaging, when will they learn.
