Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

How are things?

Was surplused in July. Working a great job, 100% remote. I'm happy. How's things with Att? The ol Att social snub happened, no one calls me anymore from Att and I don't hear any news anymore. What's new?

Nothing has changed much. The Stink is even a bigger D O U C H E than he was six months ago.

Stink is a POS!

“But as it is, we have d-mb MBA’s who chase shiny things, waste money, and implement bad policies suggested by equally d-mb firms like McKinsey.”
Bingo. They have to always try and sound smart, when they really are not. Can’t let their insecurities shine through when deep down they know they are frauds and imposters.

That other CEO underestimated a software engineer too.
Once.
Only once.

Zing.

OP here. Glad you all are hanging in there. I see Att has good trolls too still, that shows spirit. Would I come back? No. I made a little more at Att, but benefits are better on the outside. Didn't realize how amazing working remote was, driving into an empty Att office was pretty lame. The key thing I learned about my long tenure at Att, was that it was a position of safety, but there are so many opportunities outside of it. Lots of great people, lots of lousy people. Great money, bad money. The key is, you control you, not Stankey, or Summers, or that Igor doofus called Legg. Take care of each other.

“whoever is rolling out shift left has no clue what they are doing. that greasy doughball with hair, Kaffka or something like that.”

T promotes MBA social butterflies not highly competent IC’s.
It’s why we are where we are today.
If they promoted competent people this nonsense with RTO wouldn’t be going on and these contractors pushing hare-brained ideas and garbage software would get told to buzz off.

But as it is, we have d-mb MBA’s who chase shiny things, waste money, and implement bad policies suggested by equally d-mb firms like McKinsey.

Shift left is one of the best ideas (unit and integration testing) implemented in the worst possible way (typical of T).
Having non-technical people push dogmatic testing practices onto teams with total disregard of team structure, project needs, or individual development practices has been comical to watch.

“Lies. If you were a software developer you would snap a picture, email your supervisor and demand an immediate resolution whether it be to work from home or be assigned a desk. Software developers such as myself and others take no $hit from anyone and do not let bull$hit get that close to them. If you really are a software developer, shame on you. Stand up for yourself and walk the walk of a code warrior before you turn into a pink lilly.”

Why are they making us go into the office at all then?
Why are they telling SDE’s to move 1000+ miles to a hub and RTO 3-5 days a week then?
Why are we stuck in floors with non-technical people in packed offices where we can’t concentrate and write code?
Why are we forced to drive around over packed parking lots at Plano and ride a shuttle from a parking lot a mile away in downtown Dallas?

Are they letting you work virtual?

“I’m a software developer making in excess of $200k a year and having to sit on the floor in hallways due to space in the office.
How do you think it’s going at this sh-t-hole?”

“On one such project is the lady heidi that yells all of the times when we do not do shiftings of left, whatever the he-l it means.”

I am a consultant on this project if it is the one you are referring to. I have not heard yelling but there has been a measured amount of frustration focused on the development teams through no fault of their own. The calls have proven to be unproductive and so I no longer participate.

Reality is, most of those you worked with are gone too. Quality employees are gone leaving T with the Stink, DEI hires and the little Starbuck snots who think they know everything.

You and I are better off not at T. I predict that T will be sold off in 2 years and someone like Bezos or Gates will be running the company back to prosperity under a new name. The network is all they need. AI will do the jobs of the losers left at T.

You can also bank that we were the lucky ones getting out of there with an $80,000 severance check and our pensions while these schmucks are being played by the Stink into quitting by making them move to a S HNI T H O L E like Dallas where they end up fired anyway.

Sorry to be so straight forward but you a holes know it's true. The down votes will prove the DEI hires and snots feelings were hurt but the truth.

Good luck everyone!

"I and team work on all the codings now in India. All of the work comes to I and said team and US employee does no work. They sit on call to tell of vague instruction and we must do all guessing and design of system. On one such project is the lady heidi that yells all of the times when we do not do shiftings of left, whatever the he-l it means. She talks like our drink co-worker sanjay after Indian festivities. Every way has gone to the he-l and the hand basket weavings after such time as you are gone."

Doing well,thank you for asking.
I am craft.
Get in my vehicle and go to remote areas that other Techs don’t want to go.
Manager is good with that, as long as no OT is involved.
Managers are being suspended or let go for OT.
Glad to hear you are happy.

Worse than it was before, we’re being converted to a non consensual 5 day a week social club instead of a business.
