Culture of no respect

So many of these posts illustrate that the culture here is the worst thing and this might not seem like the biggest deal but it also illustrates how terrible this place is when it comes to respecting other people. I can’t tell you how many times every single day I get meeting requests at times when I am already booked. No one seems to respect the fact that I may already have a meeting at a particular time my calendar is also not visible so as to force people to go through an admin and I love it when people lie and say my calendar looked open. Just another example of how toxic the culture is.

The lack of respect is insane. No respect, and no professionalism. I would love to name names but if you work in client services, chances are I’ve privately told you to S my D on a daily basis. Some of the most simple minded, needy pieces of dung.

Related to the culture of no respect referred to by the OP (but not related to calendar scheduling) I have found that managers from VP, SVP and above are increasingly incredibly rude to more junior people on meetings. They are argumentative and talk over people when they are responding. They don’t like being challenged as they don’t have any technical or business knowledge to defend their case. The way they treat people in India and the lack of respect for people’s time when they work weekends etc is disgraceful. Rather than ask if people are available for implementations now they just choose a date and assume people are available. Then they deem it acceptable to cancel an implementation as late as 5pm on a Friday before a weekend’s implementation - due to management’s poor planning - when it was obvious much earlier that a particular date couldn’t be met.

To handle this - where I get multiple meeting requests at the same time - I either just attend the first one I received and respectfully decline the others saying I have a clash … or … choose the one I want to go to and respectfully decline the others. If people come back on it I refer them to my manager who I say should advise my priority and attend whatever my manager then says I should attend. If I get nonsense from my manager where I need to attend them all blah blah blah I just choose the one I want again. If it does end up going to my manager at least they are made aware of the conflicts on my time.

No the poster is not toxic. The OP is right on target. This place has no culture. It is a fear and abuse collective. People are just a product of the environment. If you somehow believe that this place is an open, honest, respectful setting, then you are either a liar, in HR or uppermanagement or all three.

Basing an entire culture on a small sample of people?! Sounds like you're the toxic one.

No. Saying saying I have an admin who people are supposed to go through, they don’t, and then they lie and tell me that they checked my calendar or like this morning send an email saying I know it’s the holidays and people are off but you need to make these meetings anyway.
