Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Two classes of employees and treatment

The problem with those who get to be virtual vs. those that are not, is you create two classes of employees. How do you compare pay and productivity for employees that have to go to office and spend two or more hours of being in traffic and get ready for that work, vs. someone who is working from home and does not have to do the same. How do you compare pay and bonus? How do you compare the monitoring?

In effect, people who are going to office, are subsidizing those that are working from home, so some adjustment in pay and perks at minimum should be made if company continues to honor work from home for some employees.

"...do not live within a daily commutable office range"

Some NVWs live a similar distance as those required to RTO -- including under the same AD (some have to go in and some don't).

"Wishing that people get fired because they are in a different circumstance than yours?"

Did someone wish that? Maybe I missed it, but I don't think anyone said that.

I only want DEI hires fired because Jeremy is such a white apologetic that he based his entire RTO relocation strategy around getting rid of incumbent employees to make room for special new hires. ( | ) . /. 🍩 🌭

We have four NVW. One busts his hump for 9-12 hours per day. The other three, well there is no tangible proof of work from any of them. None! We all have the same job title and are expected to do the same work. Somehow they don't get surplussed.

I only know 2 that are NVW and neither live far from their webphone address. They just don’t have to be there. No idea why.

What’s not fair is that nobody has gotten a legitimate reason or measurable benefit for RTO other than “because I said so”.

It’s crazy how a few of you don’t want free will.

Don’t forget about the not virtual, but also not in a hub city, but still get to swipe into a random office that’s closer to home.

Makes the least sense of all.

Imagine being angry about having to RTO 5 days per week (understandable).

Now imagine transferring that anger to coworkers, who through no fault of their own, do not live within a daily commutable office range. People that are still needed by their team, and thus still employed with a NVW indicator. You're angry at THEM because of where they live. Somewhere they lived before all of the RTO nonsense.

Lots of opinion/ thoughts on the fate of these NVW's going into the New Year; some will surely get walking papers, some probably won't.

Maybe just stop being a petty d-bag? Wishing that people get fired because they are in a different circumstance than yours?

What an absolute tw-t waffle you are.

Then you have the VP class that lays off half their org for RTO yet continues to live in an unapproved city.

My whole org purged NVW so it’s not a problem here. Our last day is 12/13.

RTO is a great way to get rid of people who do not have enough motivation to get out of their PJs.

HBO streaming su-ks. Who would ever pay for a lame service like that with a library of old content. Is this some kind of joke? Surfing that library is like going back in time to the video stores 3 for a dollar bin. WTF.

There are 3 classes, ones that can work from home, those who need to report to a hub location and then there are people whose designation has been changed to CLO, so they do not need to relocate nor are they working on a customer site.

Going into the office means nothing. People will continue to surf on their phones and get up from their desks. They'll just have coworkers to talk with about non work-related topics.
This is about headcount reduction not productivity.
Here's a story that illustrates how much they value productivity and loyalty to AT&T: During COVID, I was obviously WFH. A coworker and I were working on a product. It was 5, I told her I was about to sign off and we could work more on it later. She told me that she had been putting in 12 hour days and wanted to keep going. I declined. 4 years later, I'm still with the company and she had to leave after not accepting a follow the work letter.

Sure. I'm comfortable with the company providing you with more pay to work in the office. I won't complain if you get free coffee, too. You deserve it. You are the best.

There will be adjustments in pay. Those at work are expected to reduce salaries by quitting.
