Non-Branch Unions Poll

What are your thoughts regarding Non-Branch Unions?

I know this is not scientific but I'd be curous to see if (at least the TLO users here) would feel OK if we were to see some unionizing on a non-branch level.

I know there are pros and cons but let's see how people feel.

I'll start first:
Pros:

  • Improved job security
  • Collective bargaining for better wages
  • Enhanced benefits and working conditions
  • Greater employee representation in decision-making
  • Protection against unfair mgmt

Cons:

  • Labor costs go up
  • Risk of strikes, work stoppages, less hours worked
  • neutered mgmt, less flexibility in mgmt decisions
  • Union dues reducing take-home pay
  • war and negativity between union and mgmt
  • Union leadership may be self-serving, potential corruption

All your pros aren’t true except for “Greater employee representation in decision-making”. Cons are true. I can make more as a non union member because I tend to work harder than most and my pay shows it.

Good luck getting to $200k in pay by moving up within WF. The current policy is NO raise upon promotion. Zero. You might get a few crumbs if your lob exec approves, but it'll be just thar, crumbs. The only way to significantly move up in pay is to leave WF. There is no career path for internals anymore.

You just sound lazy. If you’d put half the effort into your job that you’re putting into this union cr-p you’d be making 200k a year and actually participating in the company’s success rather than harming it.

You’re gonna end up like TL and just looking for other get rich quick schemes once you’re done here.

We're all getting fired either way, might as well F Shart on our way out. Long live the Union.

Hello, my team just became the first non branch unit to unionize and we voting a few of our coworkers in to be the voice of our group. The union is not a third party. It is us.. the Wells Fargo team members. We have so much to gain from unionizing then we did before we had a union. We were able to tell our managers and our upper management exactly why we were unionizing. We have a voice now that we never had before. For the nay sayers of unions, the reason we have an 8 hour work day and overtime is because of unionizing. Also, back in the 1950s unions were extremely popular and those were times when you could live and thrive on one income. It has absolutely nothing to do with communism and everything to do with stopping corporate greed. One last thing, Wells isn’t giving raises anymore. Read this blog…. They are promoting people without giving them raises. If we bargain for more money then our dues will be a wash. Oh another thing, we have lawyers now. So if they want to write us up, lay us off, we can have the union to back us up. Google…. Wells Fargo Conduct Management and you will see our story! There were 48 of us and we did it! Yeah some of us were laid off, but guess what… the union is fighting to get our jobs back. We have more power now then we have ever had! Be brave and stand up for yourselves. Trickle down economics is not working! The rich get richer while we fight to get our jobs.

I think you missed the biggest con. Communist compensation. Everyone gets paid tye same regardless of performance. This suppresses any ceiling while propping up the bottom. I prefer to control my own destiny on my own merits.

"union dues reducing take-home pay"...that they're raising in the first place. This is like complaining about taxes after the fire department saves your house.

This is an extremely weird post, maybe even in bad faith.

My work life (pay, time off and protections) were much better in a union. Let's do it.

It seems pretty obvious at this point that management is now waging war on the employees. For that reason alone I would love to see the union activity gain more traction.

Collective bargaining is the only way for employees to effectively negotiate with corporations. The risk of missing a quarter or two gets their attention real fast.
