Oh good grief, if this is the worst thing that happens to you, you have a pretty good life.
I also ignore them. If they ask me for something that is not due and basically tell me to do a task I plan on doing anyway, i really get pssd off. I was reviewing something and received an IM asking me to review that item. I didn’t approve it until the next day (which was still ahead of time). Seriously, you’re so rude asking for sht that I clearly have in queue or on a list. I never responded to the IM at all. I 100% DO approve something if they say hello, I know u have this thing and it isnt due yet but can you please help me out. The answer will always be yes. But, Hello. Then hours after I don’t answer, can you do the thing i sent you? Why do we have SLAs if this is what you expect all the time? How is literally everything a priority??

I always respond with " what do you want" and "Since you have now interrupted me and I am waiting for you to finish your ask"..

I always start with “hello” and then finish my sentence on a new IM. Maybe this goes back to when the first IM would pop up I don’t want the whole message to be viewable in case someone is at their desk, etc
