Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Your Future With At&t

I have knowledge of classified intel from a higher up. When I say higher up, I’m talking guys who have an extreme interest in the current valuation of the company. These guys have thousands and thousands of AT&T stock.

I can’t tell you what exactly because I don’t know how many people he’s told this, so I don’t want to be the only loose string. But something VERY big is about to happen within the company. This is something that will probably cost many people their jobs.

All I can say is good luck out there.

I hope it's something good like getting rid of junk fees. But I know ATT too well. It's probably a new junk fee.

Interesting comment about the stagecoach and times changing with RTO and all.

Yeah, we had horses, stagecoaches, then cars.
We’re a telecom company with a workforce that can work primarily remote, and we’re forcing people back into offices “because that’s how it’s always been”

Similar argument came from farriers when everyone started transitioning to cars and getting rid of horses, I’m sure.

I don’t think Stankey is capable of transforming or innovating anything, just following - and investor calls are 95% fluff, so I call bullsh-t.

CEO and his successor just had interviews explaining the future and selling off the network was not one of them. AT&T has been decommissioning the copper network for a while including the equipment and transport. Nearly all the Clec’s have already decommissioned their copper equipment in the central offices because they have also moved on to fiber and consolidated.

Future CEO guidance was 18 billion cash flow end of 2027, continuing to build out the fiber network to pass 50 million locations and mobility to 5G while decommissioning of copper network. They are going to repurchase AT&T stock and give back more dividends to shareholders. There is also a new product called AT&T Advanced phone service that connects seamlessly with customers old pots line and equipment at their location, it works off of the internet or cellular. The company is giving a five year notice to all that that they are decommissioning the old copper network by year end of 2029.

Technology happens and it’s time to move into the future while supporting the few still stuck in the past. Stagecoaches were used for transportation, now we drive automobiles. Now there are many viable solutions and providers so, continuing to regulate AT&T is punitive as the carrier of last resort, it needs to be lifted. The options of fiber, cellular, satellite, microwave from various companies are in place to cover all the needs.

Business Field Services and IT operations will be sold off to WiPro and used exclusively as ATT field services IT operations provider. It's an India owned company and AT&T outsourced many of its IT positions to India in the first place, so it would make sense for T to sell it off to WiPro!
Just a hunch...?

No more wireline, no more npw's at the end of 2025, and more permanent "insourced" employees in India and Slovakia.

My guess is Stank hates consumers so he’ll sell off everything consumer to focus 100% on business.

Every single Arnoldi speech, post and BS is about Business customers. C Suite DGAF about anything else. Business and business fiber and nothing else.

How about Microsoft and/or a hedgefund buying land line assets? Plenty of long term cost reduction and network components used for data center and internet applications.

Name? Why is this termination just happening now? There should have been a pretty wide round of security employees walked out the door after the second massive data breach was finally made public.

I won’t say his name but I will say he said they let go 20 of them. There were 60 total so now 40.

As the copper network becomes decommissioned, it frees up a lot of usable space in the central offices. It’s going to take some time and work to remove all the left in place systems but an attractive option to lease or rent out all the extra real estate for cloud/data servers or consolidate mobility equipment from other locations. Would be easy access to the largest fiber network.

The only issue is that the central offices have been neglected for a couple of decades and need a lot of maintenance, housekeeping and some reconstruction for safety concerns.

Our security chief (lead investigator} was laid off and told me Microsoft would be handling security now. He said he was not being replaced. Probably doesn’t mean a thing but Microsoft is becoming more and more involved in Att buildings. They are adding more cloud servers in all the major toll buildings. They like our footprint for there Azure cloud services business. It generates multi billions in revenue.

Obviously the OP is being nebulous
But I'll bite, assume it's true, my guess is I e of the following for combination will happen..

  • T will merge with TMO and Trump administration will let it go through, that will of course mean duplicate departments will be eliminated but won't happen overnight.
  • Stanley will resign and some outsider maybe a well known CEO will take his place.
  • Microsoft will aquire T and acquisition will be allowed by the new FCC
  • something involving Trump administration...

What do.you guys think it will be?

I always know it is going to be big when the word very is used and especially if it is in all upper case as in the example above. I hope it is a video of stank not eating spicy food again on a town hall but shoving a red hot poker up his rear.
