Empty Office Fridays - Ending Soon

Very few employees are in my hub office this afterboon. It is like this every week. Mondays and Fridays are going to look very different next year.

"companies tried it DECADES ago and it incentivized devs to write tons of inefficient, long, drawn out code"

Yep, IBM was one of those companies that paid out by line of code a long time ago.

Next they’re gonna start measuring programmers on lines of code.

For those non-technical people measuring devs on lines of code is a bit of a meme, companies tried it DECADES ago and it incentivized devs to write tons of inefficient, long, drawn out code to game the measures and caused tons of problems.

The point is, management is d-mb and uneducated.

If he's actually using "keystrokes" as a measure of productivity we are more doomed than any of us realize.

"Did he really say this?"

Yes, he did. It was not in a TH but in a conversation he was having with some of the company leaders.

And this is right in line with some of the supposed measures of productivity that have been mentioned on this site over the last few weeks.

“ Stankey said that one of the measures of working is keystrokes“

Did he really say this? Genuinely asking as I don’t watch any of his stuff anymore…

Stankey said that one of the measures of working is keystrokes. He stated that there were not enough keystrokes. When I hear him say that I immediately thought of the movie Amadeus when the king's critique of Amadeus was "too many notes".

The entire "point" of going back into the office was to increase in person communication (collaboration), and not have to do things digitally.

I'm a level 2 in Dallas and in a meeting with our VP it was said that the change to 5 days a week in the office was because "John Stankey has data that not all employees work 40 hours a week". First, what data would show that? Secondly, if you have data why not correct the offenders? The beatings will continue until moral improves.

Hub? It seems like the trend is more likely to be empty-office Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. No credible source here other than what is observable by everyone.

Mondays and Fridays are always much less crowded. 4 day weekends are a known fact with the 3-day RTO policy.

Why is this a good thing?
If you went to office Fridays and Mondays were the most productive days because people weren’t there.

Exactly. I go in Mondays and Fridays because of this and because traffic isn’t as cr-ppy those days.
