Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

The VP Report

Does anyone know what the report had that John S got?

For instance, does anyone know the results like what percentage of employees worked under 4 hours in office?

I just turn on a 2 hour LinkedIn Learning course on AI, then cut out to Costco to shop, which, as you know, is the epitome of the good life here in Texas. I take the same Gen AI Tips and tricks every day. It shows up as “busy time” and you can put it on your resume. Looks good and you get your shopping done. Thx Learning & Development!!!

“We are pretty fed up with the lack of accountability thus far.”

Who is “we”?

No one on my team cares.
Why do you?

Idle in Teams? We don't even use Teams. I opened the App during my lease roll in July just to see if it worked.

5 days a week starting 1/1/25 will probably be announced this Friday 11/1.

This allows the employees 60 days to make arrangements for childcare.

I believe as soon as that announcement is made the vast majority will stop coming in 3 or 5 days until 1/1/25.

There has been no discipline for those who weren’t playing ball. Some people have been coming in as required since July of last year. We are pretty fed up with the lack of accountability thus far.

There has been no MASS termination so why would we worry about the remainder of 2024?

“And I am guessing that the 20% who are going to the office will either be laid off or get absolutely nothing extra for holding up the metric for the rest.”

Correct.

“I saw the report on the metrics for network tracking.
From what I recall, for ATS -
46% percent were less than 4 in office
34% between 4-8
20% 8 hours or more.”

I heard they are not tracking VPN if it’s during work hours. Apparently they are also tracking active vs. idle time on Teams.

If you saw the report were names actually on the report or it was anonymous and just a general stat of ATS?

Did they factor in 1/2 day vacations or sick day, or that the person worked from VPN later in the day?

“ATS can do 100% of their job from home.”
Or offshore.

This is for ATS.

I’m honestly not surprised, ATS can do 100% of their job from home.

“The rumor heard in my office is that 40% of workers were found not to be working 'full time'.”
We were told the number was well over 50%.

Make a Power Automate macro that sends out random emails and Teams messages, until leadership can decide on how many pieces of flair you need to wear to qualify as "working".

Hard to say what metric they're using.

I've heard some claims they're using Teams/Outlook metrics. If this is the case, they're probably using Viva Insights, which supposedly cannot target individual users.

You can also opt out of Viva Insights by going into your Teams client, accessing Viva Insights, going into Settings -> Privacy, and turning it off in there.

“They are just checking the parking lots - early, mid-day, late day.”
Walking around offices also has made high levels of fraud and abuse clear.

The real question is how do they determine what counts as work.

To the OP: The rumor heard in my office is that 40% of workers were found not to be working 'full time'. No additional info on how that breaks down.

Just go to the office and you don't have to worry about it.

There is no report. They are just checking the parking lots - early, mid-day, late day. It's not rocket science.

Such a typical boomer with no understanding of technical data and complete disregard for anything anyone else says. It’s clearly flawed data.
We’re a mobility company. We bring remote people together, it’s been our bread and butter as a communications company. That means people have a work life balance and use the communication technologies available, whether online, corp lan, wifi, COU, etc. Unless your picture encapsulates all forms of communication, it’s seriously flawed.

Without a doubt others brought this up and were chastised for being insubordinate.

It’s no mystery why some of these top leaders have chosen to leave. Mc Selfish only cares about taking over the helm when big J is put to pasture so he won’t argue about anything and toes the line completely.

My post below called it, rofl.

Probably was in crayon so he and the MBA’s can easily understand it.
Probably used some really poorly thought out way to measure some metric that’s basically irrelevant, like keystrokes, days in office, time in office via unreliable pings.
Probably ignored all work being done from home, which would account for the majority of actual work.
Probably didn’t work on MacBooks, the operating system the majority of tech savvy people use at this company.
Probably was tainted data due to how unreliable our systems are in general.
He probably gave it a quick skim and made some overarching, knee jerk, poorly thought out judgements about it without fully digesting the data.
Probably ignored the advice of some of his data analysis’s and anyone who spoke up who wasn’t a “yes man”

You don’t really need to know what it said to know what it said - there are deductions you can make based on previous Stankey related incidents that the adults now have to clean up and suffer for.

I don’t know who keeps letting him out of the daycare.
