Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

How many days for virtual workers?

If we change to 5 days a week in office, do the virtual workers have to go to office more than the 1 day month originally assigned?

Which org is this? (going to once per week)

I believe they work for Irene Shannon. I work in Chad Townes org and had been fully remote for over 15 years, have been 5 days since last summer still being required to be available 24X7. I am not moving so my time at AT&T is coming to an end.

If your SVP decides you need to be in an office, you will be in an office, or I guess leave. N

How do I know?

Two years ago Stank clearly told us that at the end of this transition, less than 1% of workers would be virtual and only those in a non-collaborative role.
He wasn’t kidding.

Depends on your organization. Several in our office were told once a week starting 1/1/25 and status will be reviewed on a quarterly basis moving forward with some moving to NFTO.

And how do you know this about virtual workers? Even Amazon and other companies still have remote jobs.

I have a feeling this post won’t age well for those in disbelief of 5 day RTO and being able to remain virtual.
Unless you’re market support, the day is coming.
2025 is gonna be lit. Don’t ever say you weren’t warned.

“ why do only the chosen / favorites get this opportunity“

Why do you make the leap to “chosen” and “favorites” ? That’s the pettiness and jealousy part of this. I mean it’s clear why you are neither of those things; one can only imagine what a PITA you are to your manager, and I am honestly shocked you are still here. But I digress.

Those on my team that are still VW are in that classification because there is no office that they could reasonably report to daily. They are still needed. And the team has not been given a relocation mandate to DAL or ATL. Yes all of that can, and probably will change at some point. But hasn’t as of yet. Has nothing to do with favorites or special treatment.

“FOW means you’re temporary, I would not brag about it. You’ll be assigned somewhere soon enough (or shown the door).”

Stay mad.

I agree with @qof+1vdRS3Oq and disagree with person who said person is jealous. Damn right they are — why do only the chosen / favorites get this opportunity?

Call it out… the disparity across the enterprise…someone fix it…

This is FACT and can be found by searching “occupancy indicators “ in HRonestop.

FOW is Future Office Worker.

“National roles with future destination in one of the 9 primary hubs. That Office Indicator is a place holder for roles that are not currently in their long term location.”

People need to stop stating their opinions as facts. The facts are that the rules are nowhere near the same across the various orgs. So posting here matter of factly based on what your org is doing is pointless.

FTW doesn’t exist any longer.

Same old angry and jealous poster again. Literally posts every day. Is obsessed with folks that are still able to maintain virtual status. Sad and pathetic twit.

Virtual status is. Either your status will change in early 2025 or you will be on a surplus list in aQ1.

Keep in the back of your mind that Stankey said less than 1% will be virtual and would be non-collaborative workers.

If that’s not you, you might have changes coming.

If you get to stay virtual and aren’t hit with FTW, it’s still 1 day a month subject to change.

So back to 0 remote days. This place really can’t get any d-mber. That was like the only thing keeping me around was at least we had hybrid. Now there is no incentive to stay, which I’m sure is exactly what their goal is. I predict 0 impact to the metrics as a result. Just like with 3 days in office, 0 impact to metrics. Guess they doubled down on stupid. Way to follow the leader and foster a better culture. One bad decision after the other. They really need to clean house at the top.

I’m hearing the 5 day RTO only applies to FTO so FOW and Virtual are exempt.

They should be. Incredibly jealous that you still get to WFH. WTH: doesn't the existence of teleworkers mean that their whole philosophy of "can't be productive unless your RTO" blow up in their face?? Stupidest da#@ mandate company has ever undergone: after depletion of benefits followed up with this uneven, archiac b.s. mandate, Stankey will drive out everyone that was worth a d@# in this company. Question will be: can the company come back after the Stankfest? Or, as some have suspected, is this all about driving down labor to point that can sell off company
