Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Leadership please read

So to the corporate leadership of AT&T… I think the overwhelming majority of employees don’t have any issue with RTO. For those whose jobs really dictate they be in office and working collaborating with others five days also no issues but of course there are many whose jobs dictate that they may be out of the office two or three days a week in the field, and then others who work in locations where there may not be many other people on their team and they work across markets or across regions or the country. Those being in a defined location or coming in more than two or three days a week doesn’t really mean anything because there’s no one else for them to really collaborate with in person. In general, the employees have shown how efficient and productive they can be as seen during the pandemic and post pandemic

Why when the company has really turned things around financially, headed in the right direction and has a lot of employees eager and excited about where we are going, would you take it upon yourselves to be so heavy handed with the RTO? Forcing people to relocate? Forcing people to decide to give up a job that they’ve had for 5, 10, 15 years that they’re good at because you’re insisting they relocate.

Why take the enormous and positive momentum we’ve built over the last two years in particular and blow it up by behaving in such a manner. All you’re doing is pi----g off your employees even the ones who stay are becoming angry and disenchanted you’re and not just turning off current employees, but you’re gonna be turning away future younger employees who see and hear what’s going on at AT&T and don’t see it as a progressive forward thinking company.

Wake up and realize the heart and soul of this company is its people and your actions are undermining what makes this company great…people who care deeply about what we do and how we can make the company succeed.

You recently created these new workplace designations, and it makes sense that anyone who has an FTO designation would likely be in the office five days a week at an assigned location while those with other distant designations, such as the few who have virtual and the many others who have MS would be Either in designated locations or bounce between locations coming in 2 to 3 days per week.

While I agree with the comment, good old AT&T years ago actually created a Remote Work agreement that had to get approved by your VP. It had the employee agree to the terms and it was enforced by your manager. Cr-p work got the agreement cancelled and back into the office you went. It didn't need to be a heavy handed overlord decree like we have today. The collaboration, local team idea is already falling apart before it even gets started, especially in the Legg organization.

RTO continues to be about short-term gains of employee reduction.

The company recognizes the abuses were increasing with WFH. sure, you were super productive, but many of your peers negated your contributions. RTO reduces the opportunity for that abuse. A secondary benefit of RTO for the company is that the diehard opposition to RTO will either leave on their own, or make themselves readily identifiable for future surplus activities. The latter is a good thing for those who remain. Some employees can't be treated as adults because they can't be trusted to behave as adults. The few will always sc--w up a good thing. Your peers sc--wed you over, and your discontent is misdirected.

The trolls are union folks that have been 5 days in office before during and after Covid. They’re just laughing about all the reasons you have to work from home and just can’t show up to the office.
