Salary adjustment for promotion

Can someone explain the salary adjustment for a promotion. Some people are saying none and others are saying you get one but only at year end. Huh? So what happens if you get a promotion in March? Is this the same for taking a new role that’s a jump up?

Higher levels have same issue. Was looking at a role and was told same by recruiter. Glad I had external offer in the pocket so I left.

Yeah, the whole "maybe at merit" thing is a total crock of S. Think they are going to increase the budget to address known 'injustices' that they intentionally created? He-l no they won't. Could you correct them yourself with merit? Only by sc--wing everyone else on the team. FHY and their lies.

I received a promotion from P2 to P3 earlier this year. We were told no additional dollars would be given for the promotion as long as we were within the salary range for the P3 role.

I am a P4. I applied for another P4 where my current salary is below the minimum for that P4 job. They said that since it was a lateral, P4 to P4, there would be no raise, even though I would be below minimum. And because it’s the end of 2024, I would get my end of year review and possibly get some kind of raise. But as far as the pay discrepancy was concerned, not eligible for that adjustment until 2025 (which would actually start Feb 2026).

So over a year of making thousands less than my new colleagues all while hoping I succeed in my new role enough to earn a raise next year? Miss me on that.

Was that a promotion in the middle of this year?

I'll keep this simple folks, for the hard of hearing. SHART DOES NOT WANT YOU. The objective of this policy is simple. Minimize internal retention and maximize external hiring. He hates you and wants you gone. He's willing to spend billions to make it happen. What do you people not understand?!

Why would anyone accept a promotion without a bump up in salary? Is this another staff reduction initiative?

I know someone who recently applied for a P5 promotion (they were a P4) and they were told no raise unless they were below the range (or at the very bottom), so not sure where you are getting that.

Who is getting promoted in this toxic environment?

Depends on the level. P5 or M3 and above are eligible for decent increases. If lower levels, then it depends where your current comp falls into the promoted range. And yeah, I believe anything mid year isn't much if not zero until the annual performance cycle.
