Thread regarding Ford layoffs

GTH w/Farley and Friends

Anyone listen/watch today? What a blowfest Mainly Farley to himself and putting all the losses again on us and taking zero responsibility. You sir are the reason we are in this mess. It starts at the top and the top should be replaced immediately.

@3wcu+1vfTSs50 that exchange was edited out of the video recording of the town hall. Pathetic and embarrassing for all parties involved.

@1qfu+1vfTSs50: I guess your post was extreme sarcasm.

Musk wanted to hire Hau Thai-Ta-g while he was still at Ford.
Ford lost big time when he left.

Did anyone catch the guy asking a question about IT stuff and Amend come off mute saying "what was the question".

Absolute embarrassment and a joke which is probably why he's the CIO of this place

He did not say anything, but the writing was on the wall.. there's 6 months of inventory for Lightnings on dealer lots and they are unable to move them with $35k discounts...

Turns out nobody wants a pickup truck that goes less than 100 miles when towing and costs just as much as gas to recharge... who would've thought?

@1gl Apple execs are some of the best in the world. Under Cook's leadership Apple's market cap increased >700% and become the first company worth over $3 trillion. While the tech market has matured, Apple has innovated mainstreaming ARM processors, growing digital services, and creating world class software. That said, the execs who are forced out of Apple like DF are clueless id--ts...

Former Ford employee here.

Did Farley mention idling F150 Lighting operations during the town hall?

Jim Farley must be fired. He is a car guy that is driving Ford Motor Company to bankruptcy.

Only the bad executives would leave Apple for Ford. I currently own a new Apple iPhone with AI, two iPads, a MacBook Pro, a MacBook Air, two sets of AirPods and an Apple TV box. All great products, all work as advertised, not one has been recalled.

Ford in business since 1903, current market cap $40 billion
Apple in business since 1976, current market cap $3.4 TRILLION

I’d argue that Apple is the better company with the better executives.

@1omu+1vfTSs50 man, this post has more insight than most stories on ford. only imminent disaster seems to modify ford policies.

Farley was never supposed to be CEO. Nor was Hackett. The succession plan was Mark Fields. Unfortunately not seeing eye to eye with the Fords, embracing the Trump administration (which you can lump that in with not seeing eye to eye with the liberal limousine riding Ford family) and the botched Google deal (which in hindsight was a blessing because it probably would have gone something like Argo) is why Mark Fields was removed. Even Mullally lamented that Farley was not CEO material. Had the succession plan been executed as planned by Alan and the BoD back in 2013-14, we would probably have Joe Heinrichs as CEO as Fields would have retired by now.

Farley was brought in because of the perception of Toyota at the time. Thinking he could help the quality story of Ford. The Truth: He was just a talking head PowerPoint jockey, and the true seat of power always remained in Japan. Mullally learned this quickly which is why he never considered him in the succession plan. And since Bill is way in over his head, and since he can only accept his own truth or the truth of convenience, we have the talking head Farley. Stern saw the writing on the wall and bailed.

1eug+1vfTSs50 sorry to bust your bubble but what do you define as extensive experience? According to DF LINK BIO I think he had one job close to five years the rest were 36month stints. so unlike you I do not feel confident.

DF has extensive experience with Tesla, which is an automaker.

These apple execs are clueless id--ts. No wonder Apple hasn't made a successful product after the iPhone. Which btw hasn't changed much since Steve Jobs passed away.

The leaders couldn’t even sit behind our CFO yesterday when they talked about our lousy Q3 results. Cowards.

Aaaand Peter Stern left. Leaders we can see the flames in the house behind you. FFS when is it enough to stop destroying the brand by pulling in Apple yayhoos that have zero experience and tolerance for automotive industry states of affairs.

I thought is was an informative and motivating Town Hall. We missed Bill Ford at this one, but Doug Field's urgency to resolve an employee's question/comment was very responsible and a model for leadership.

@OP: JF is a treasure! You sir are the problem. You need to work smarter not harder. Shift your paradigms and empower yourself and those around you! Spend your time being part of the solution and not part of the problem. And finally, seek out and destroy any and all brackets. Here in lies the path to profitability!
