Reflecting on a coworker who didn’t inform anyone about his retirement; he simply finished his last day and left without returning. 🚀

If the PTO has been accrued, yes, you get to "sell it back".
Anyone happen to know. When you retire do you get paid for unused pto?
I’ll look it up when I get back in the office, but thought someone might know.
If you are an ED or above in CIB or CB, there is a notice period. It can be working or non-working or a combination. It is in the leaving WF policy, so a requirement for many of us.
I retired last year with a 3 week notice, but one week being PTO. I was truly retiring and had to let my manager and HR know so I got my benefits and my RSRs would continue to vest. I wasn’t leaving anything on the table. There is no required notice in the US. That is not true for other locations however.
It was joyous giving such short notice. I immediately felt the huge Wf burden fall off my shoulders. I occasionally come here to see what’s going on, but it really is wonderful to not think about it everyday.
I retired and my notice period went through bonus payout and got one. But yes, key word is eligible.
If you retire you're not bonus eligible. Since we're all on the chopping block we never know when our pink slip might come. Why announce your retirement and throw away a severance/bonus? Don't think so. I considered retirement, now I'm just going to coast until they pay me to leave. F HY.
That's what my plan was going to be. Previous retirements were handled my IM meetings..... lame, since I had no connection to anyone on my team, I figured I'd just disappear.
Then I got 'whacked' by wf, so then it didn't matter.... I just stopped going to work.
Living the good life now!
Cheers!
I plan to organize and offsite. Make sure hotels are required and such. Then just not show up and never return.
Martin: I’m going out for some smokes
Group: But he doesn’t smoke…
Is there a possibility that this person was either let go or is ill? Don't make assumptions without facts.
Ba--s to this guy. I gave a 4 week notice and consumed all my PTO but a couple of dayBless. manager tried to force a couple of months... God bless.
Irish goodbye. I did it in 1Q. Catch u later su-kas!
The funny part too is that they'll keep getting paid because the HR process to fire someone over job abandonment is weeks.
It looks like all teamwork and team comradery is history at Wells.
OP,
How is it that someone can "retire" without telling a single soul? You have to inform HR and their manager will/should know.
It looks like we are talking about possible job abandonment instead.
All hail Maria, the patron saint of ghosting.
Some are retiring with the sweetener of a package.
I retired in March and with the exception of my team of four and direct manager, I told no one. Kind of cool to do it that way.
Very nice! Hope I can do the same. I retired once and I tell you besides one person I'm great friends with not a sole reached out to me after. An occasional Linkdin message but ghosted by all.
We had someone do the same. Grabbed his stuff, left and was then all of a sudden “retired.”
I'm gonna keep this in mind for future use: "I'm gonna get a sweater from the car". 😂💅
I plan to do the same!!
That’s my plan.
She went cash her lottery tickets
Once, a Brazilian colleague named Maria mentioned she was feeling a bit chilly and went to get a sweater from her car but never came back…after that, it became an inside joke to say we were “going to get a sweater from the car” on tough days… get a sweater man…
