Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

5 Days RTO

Productivity and morale were circling, but just went down the drain. Good luck to T and company sycophants. THIS will be the straw that breaks the boomers backs.

This seems like a great approach to attract that young new talent they are always looking for.

"Economy picks back up"

Except for the fact that they are filling jobs over seas at a fraction of the cost here.

Sorry, but the older employees I know (boomers and gen x) don't want to be in the office 5 days a week, either. It's time to stop generalizing. It's the executive leadership team that wants us to be in the office. They're just trying to get more people to quit without paying severance.

Yeah, but boomers are the past, and often have skills severely out of date.
With such a strong belief in WFH from the up and coming generation it isn’t going away no matter how much the olds want it to.

Economy picks back up, companies will start offering WFH as a benefit to attract talent.
“Year of efficiency” isn’t going to last forever.

It’s a lot easier to lie and cheat someone who has tried to fu-k me over. I’m an honest person and will treat you with respect but as soon as you try and sc--w me or fu-k with my money, the gloves come off.
I don’t feel bad about that at all and won’t ever apologize for prioritizing myself and my family over Stankey and his millions or some faceless soulless corporation.
If you think the up and coming generation feels any different you’re in for a rude awakening.

“Interesting choice of words. It's just an integrity thing to me; I would be compromising myself to lie about it. If someone has no qualms lying about something so big, how easy is it for them to lie/cheat about anything and everything in their lives everyday?”

It’s not something big to me, it’s just business. Stankey and co lie all the time about stuff.
Why aren’t you willing to get on their level?
Skill issue.

5 Days in the office is what we were hired for. Get over it.

Not a very hard choice, to be honest.

“I don't NEED to be here but choose to be because I have niche skills that add value to my team.”

you choose to be here for the paycheck, stop with the "only I can save my team" garbage, arrogant much?

You will be easily replaced since you are in a different station of life.

Really hate that I'm giving the Stank Thang what he wants, but this is goodbye for me.

Love my actual work. Love my peers and the people I support. I don't NEED to be here but choose to be because I have niche skills that add value to my team, I'm busy, my work is engaging, and the people make it worthwhile. Take away my flexibility, you su-k the air out of everything.

Never been a coffee badger. Always did my full 8 x3, often more if the situation required. Now I'm being treated like a petulant child paying for the sins of others, and I'm certainly no Jesus. So the Stank can jerk off to my very early retirement.

Su-k it, Stank. My groups and groups around me have never been able to retain young talent fresh out of school. They last a bit and move on. You think this draconian mandate is going to help? No, the work will go offshore where they get to it when they get to it without any sense of emergency.

Fortunately i was extremely smart with my money the second i started work here and can leave without batting an eye or worrying about finding another job in this market. I'll miss my team, but that's about it.

Sorry to those of you who aren't in the same position. It's a crummy situation that will only get worse. Godspeed.

Our C-suite saw that culture survey and said, Hold my Beer. For those of you who need to stay, prayers.

The sycophant guy is posting again. I wish he would learn the meaning and correct usage of that word.

“It's like one of those Would you...for $XX scenarios. Unfortunately, I won't tell a lie that costs me $50K+++. (taxes, ya know)”

You’re lying to a giant corporation that pays their CEO over $30 million a year. No one is getting hurt, it isn’t a real lie. Stankey will survive, I promise.
And I’ve only been here a few years, my severance was like two months and I’d have lost insurance and stock match in the meantime.
So loss of ~$25k in severance vs ~$81k+ in wages AND the bonus next year AND insurance AND stock match.

Not a very hard choice, to be honest.

I wasn’t really planning on moving anyways, so I will just WFH til end of June then put in my 2 weeks.

“Interesting that they make this announcement 2 weeks after tons of people had to give their answers about following the job. Can't change your mind now, so no severance if you don't want to move and go to 5 days. Most answered based on the 3 day assumption--an assumption they likely shouldn't have made. Some pi---d off peeps around the office.”

I know you’re right.

This will result in immediate problems in all facets of the enterprise and we won’t be able to fix them all.

Major problems with no one left to repair them, incoming!

Gonna enjoy the WFH til June then jump ship.

That is exactly what the C-Suite wants!
Lower head count!
RTO= Head count reduction exercise

The C-Suite and upper leadership are not playing the “find a seat” game daily like the rest of us.
So they don’t care.
