I’m a relatively young store manager at a corporate location, and tomorrow I’m putting in my two weeks’ notice. I’m feeling incredibly nervous because I’ve been conditioned to think that AT&T is the end-all, be-all. The micromanagement, the unrealistic sales expectations, and the pressure that leads to unethical practices (which upper management turns a blind eye to until it suits them) have made my job unbearable.
I’m leaving to work at a different company outside of telecommunications, a family-owned but well-established business that operates across 10 states and is continuously growing. The pay is slightly better, and the bonus structure is annual rather than monthly. Even though it seems like a step up, I’m still apprehensive about making such a big move.
I’m not even sure what I’m asking, but I’d really appreciate any advice, words of encouragement, or stories of similar experiences to help ease my worries. Thanks for listening, even if it’s anonymous.
