Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

AT&T needs to hold their Supervisors to account

Anyone with time to complain doesn't have enough work to do. How is it possible for so many employees to boast about gaming the company and their Supervisors are unaware? You don't have an employee problem. You have weak low level managers.

They will be soon, OP. I suspect very few know what their direct reports are doing throughout the day.

“I too was puzzled by the comment of the guy with 99 problems. No vision of his own, but bad advice for others. He missed out and now he's mad.”

My money was in NVDA, I didn’t miss out on anything.
But yeah, if you held 0 T during the collapse of the stock, bought low and sold high then sure, it’s a fine trade.

The problem is people on here who have been holding it for 5+ years thinking RTO and other Stankey shenanigans are going to push it back to $50 when they should have sold a long time ago.

They’re hoping the company will ruin long term viability in their desperate bid for short term stock gains so they can dump their bags and get out.
They’re willing to sacrifice the company and the employee base so they can at least break even.

That’s pathetic.

But no, short term swing trading T is fine, but at that point you don’t really care about the long term prospects or fundamentals since it’s a short-term trade…so T being an awful company is sorta irrelevant to you.
Good trade though.

"He missed out and now he's mad"

Sadly, too many are not planning for their future, neither financially nor with skills supporting retainability. They get upset when they realize they are too far behind the curve to catch up, and then take out their frustration on others. It is fascinating that even in their moment of awareness they continue to fail take responsibility for their situation in life.

"In with $175K @$15, out @ $21.75 one year later. Do that math, "son". Investments are an opportunity."

"Too bad you’re still below your cost basis because T overall is still down, and you were d-mb enough to hold T.
Feel bad for you son.
I got 99 problems, but T stock ain’t one."

The problem is not with the Supervisor, it’s with the people they have to put up with who don’t give a damn and are just taking up space. Supervisors have no say so in who gets selected to fill a vacancy. Placement is based on seniority, not merit. It’s a flawed process that keeps alot of people on the payroll who are just in the way.

Way to many unqualified little to no experience managers. Cliff note types "managing" more experienced teams.

It shows on this message board for sure.

“Too many people goofing off at home“

What a silly comment. We can’t even track the time people are in office, but you think they can track who’s goofing off. If someone was unavailable or took forever to respond and jumped off the page, then isn’t that an indictment on the Director for not cleaning up that persons act. I left an org that clearly had person who was “distracted” and they did nothing to rectify situation. Now I hear Director saying RTO was great cause so many are goofing off, bullcr-p, you just didn’t do your job.

@We still have a lot of low skilled old boomers working bs jobs that don’t actually do anything of substance.

Another up and coming executive that's going to reinvent the wheel. Stuck in a dead end job without a clue.

As a former director, I knew exactly who was slacking off and who wasn’t, even not being co-located with most of my geographically dispersed team. But to fire non-performers just out of spite is stupid. The name of the game is to wait until layoff quota is given to you and only then throw the deadweight to the lions. Keep some for future round.
If layoffs never come or come much later - well, deadwood got lucky😀

"100% one of the factors in RTO. Supervisors using WFH as an excuse. Now Stankey is taking away that excuse"

Certainly contributes to the move 5 days. Too many people goofing off at home, and supervisors had no control over them. Yeah, I have to agree. Supervisors need to be held accountable. Now we all pay the price.

Many managers aren't co-located with their direct reports. Why not, you may ask? They can't concentrate with all of the shenanigans going on around them.

"An almost never ending gaggle walking around the office"

I've seen this too. WTF do you do that makes money for the company if you are always away from your desk? Frequently followed by, why do I have to come to an office if so few here are doing actual work?

Definitely a lot of employees with too much free time. An almost never ending gaggle walking around the office.

Supervisors spend too much time in meetings to be able to effectively manage workers. They are clueless.

And yet here you are taking time out of your workday to doomscroll posts off of a layoff site and make your own posts about them. Sounds like you have an equal amount of free time as everyone else.
