Relocation Assistance/Money

I know that with previous "waves" the word was that anything lower than L3/L4 wouldn't get relocation money/assistance. I'm now hearing of more people (L2) being offered relo money and program for selling existing home that they'll even buy if it doesn't sell in the specified time frame.

I hope he gets caught.

He'll get caught. Part of the stipulations for the program indicate that the house being sold is currently the primary residence.

He wants to sell that place to free up money to relocate.

He already owns and currently lives in another house in town that he will be keeping. He will not be relocating.

“Some guy in my office has a second/rental house in town. He thinks he's going to put that one as the in the relo program. I hope he gets caught.”

What is wrong here? He wants to sell that place to free up money to relocate. And it's not like the market has crashed. He'll probably sell it with no assistance needed anyway.

Good for him, take the company for all you can.

I might agree with you except this person is staying with the company. He had the opportunity to take the severance. Instead, he will be committing a fireable offense (no severance) at the least and likely fraud. You don't think the company wouldn't both fire him and go after him if they buy a 300k house they didn't have to buy or for which they didn't have to give substantial selling assistance?

“I know of too many folks that moved and were let go after moving and buying a new home.”
This isn’t true.

If I moved to a hub, even with assistance, I would only rent for the first year. I know of too many folks that moved and were let go after moving and buying a new home.

Some L2’s are being offered a retention bonus if they move. Some being offered relo assistance. Gave not heard about home buying if not sold. I don’t think that’s an option for L2 but perhaps in other orgs. It depends on your org and how motivated they are to keep you if moving isn’t off the table for you.

WHY anyone would move with the direction this company is moving is well beyond my understanding.
