Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Any thoughts on if AT&T will over early retirement offers in late 2024 or in 2025 to reduce the number of layoffs in 2025?

hahahah.. over the past 10+years, there were plenty options to make an informed decision to leave the business if you met MR75! Loosing group health subsidy pre medicare eligibility was the carrot I bit hard in EOY 2021.

No. Those days are long gone and won’t come back. How many years now have people been waiting for this? Every time the C suite gets asked the answer it is always, nope, not happening, never going to happen again. Best you will get is 6 months severance, but really it’s not worth sticking around a miserable job hoping for 6 months severance.

My thoughts are:

That would be sweet getting that severance! 53 weeks + 4 weeks per year over 25 years of service is icing on the cake. Where do I sign?!?!

There are no carrots with Stankey. Only sticks. He loves to beat employees with sticks. Under Stankey we will never get positive incentives to do something, only negative.

Want to get rid of a lot of employees, particularly the older ones? His answer is not an MVO offer or any sort of positive incentive to leave. That is not the Stankey way. He would rather inflict pain on the masses and implement a backwards-looking RTO 5x8 policy and make everyone to come in to an over-crowded office space with hotel-like-desk arrangement where Hunger Games to get a desk will be played daily, make you haul your equipment every day to and fro from your car far far away from the building (if you are lucky!), and will stop layoffs (for all those who are DYING to get one at this point) until the pain is so unbearable that large swaths of employees are negatively incentivized to leave. For all those that do stay for the now completely demoralized workforce praying to just get a few more years in -- he will begin the layoffs once again.

This is our CEO. Stinkey

RTO is go get you to actually work. Enough coaching kids soccer and other personal business.

This is among the most humorous things I have read in a while.

They haven't "incentivized" any retirements since they announced you would be losing pre- Medicare health insurance if you don't did not leave a few years back. (For those of you that are a bit dim, note that the "incentive" there was actually just keeping a benefit you already had).

They haven't had a true "incentive" to get people off payroll for at least a decade.

Indeed, as all of the "leaders" have parroted in one way or another over the last 5 years or so, "if you don't like it, leave" is the new program-----while steadily turning up the pressure on the "if you don't like it" side of that particular equation.

There is no need for early retirement packages.

AT&T pays the press to keep their layoffs exposure to a minimum.

AT&T is more evil than you can imagine.

AT&T su-ks cow ba--s and hates employees.

AT&T sees employees as nothing but a payroll expense when we are people with lives.

AT&T can eat scrotums.

Thank you.

LOL No way. Why do you think they are going 5 days RTO? So you voluntarily leave or they fire you for non-compliance.

They won’t pay you to leave if they don’t have to.
