Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Remember all those L3/L4s who got RTO city reassignments?

Make sure you tell them bye while you can. They aren't making it through Thanksgiving if they declined the move. More accurately, probably won't make it past Veteran's Day. Godspeed.

Not sure which org is being referenced, but I do know that ATS had a big batch of letters in the last 3 months.

** Why are they still here?**

Doing sh-t that nobody else knows how to do? The ones in our group are really closer to L2 than being bosses; they were just made L3s when they converted the old numbered job titles.

They've known they were losing their job for a year now

Not necessarily. Some non-hub cities had been given deferrals until the "end of 2025" with possible re-evaluation if there wasn't room in the hubs, and some probably hoped that it would be as long as possible or the whole hub thing would disappear.

The letters went out in either late July or August? I think they had to give their answer either right before the strike in the SE or during it. Managers who said they'd be moving were given report dates of either March or June of 2025, so I think they figured they'd be on on at least until the end of the year. The ones I know gave their answer and just kept continuing to do their jobs, again either giving time for training others or again, hoping company would change the agenda.

"The only thing that was surprising was being told within the last (work) day or two that Friday or Monday would be their last day."

At this point the company was probably wondering what the he-l these people are still doing here. They've known they were losing their job for a year now. Why are they still here?

This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone.

They knew it was coming. The only thing that was surprising was being told within the last (work) day or two that Friday or Monday would be their last day.

Yeah, not really fired per se, but SSS. Self-Selection Surplus.

BS T has NEVER fired a L3 or L4

It didn't say fired. There were a bunch of them in non-hub cities that were given the "Wave" letter and some chose not to move. Those who said they would not move are starting to get their surplus dates within this month.

They are made to do the dirty work by laying everyone off and then surprise, now it's their turn. Fool me once ...

They should have been out the door months ago. This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone.
