I’m Resigning tomorrow, have no plans for work, any advice helps.

40 years old, was a Representative at a Corporate store, actually 3 stores for 10 years, this is my 2nd year at the Call Center with AT&T. I’m tired of it & sales/goals/micromanagement. The good news is I paid off all my debt a year ago, my 2018 Truck is mine, only 49k miles, I have $12k in my 401k because I took out loans years ago to pay off Medical debt. I only have $1,700 in debt between 5 credit cards & I have $8,000 in cash saved. Not much for a guy my age, but it’s a start.

Here’s where I need advice, I DON’T want to work another job that entails “sales” or “goals” or dealing with customers “accounts” etc! I’m DONE with it!!!!! I ask y’all for advice as to where should I go, where did you go? My Best quality is talking to people face to face, but as a guy that’s not young anymore I’m just Lost!

Any advice is seriously appreciated, I want a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT kind of job! Nothing to do with micromanaging id--ts or sales! I’m done with it! Sorry if this is a rant, I’m just OVER IT!!!

Try healthcare. They are always hiring there. Train to become an X-ray technician, or ultrasound specialist, heck even a receptionist if you want an easy job, pay won't be as high as T but you have a job.

It can be done I resigned after 23 years in sales I started when it was bellsouth mobility watched it go down the tubes.

It was good while it lasted I changed jobs completely but I had technical training as a mechanic and went into a speciality field. I went to school much younger but I see people your age doing it as well am now using it after many years. I too paid off all debt except mortgage never raided my 401k ever . Yes it can be done and I would look into trades blue collar work the work the democrats look down upon now . Can’t give it to ai or go online to do it like sales. I would recommend find apprenticeship but don’t quit till you have another job use your vacation use your ppt take a medical leave mental health and spend 40 to 60 hours a week looking for something else but don’t quit till you have something you put up with it this long a little while longer won’t hurt. I just tell myself att was good for a while I bought a house had kids got married etc working there it was good to me but the people changed leadership went to cr-p and dealing with the public got worse and worse and the crooks they hired as my peers were the worst slammers ever fraud etc etc your young still 40 is not old I left at 44 and love what I do now and make 3x more money . Good luck

Find a new job first, at least a bridge job that pays the bills.

Sounds to me like you could get a top executive job at any company you want. At your age having the financial stability of a 19 year old and was able to get a job here , apparently you are the greatest con man since Bernie Madoff.

here's some advice, don't quit your job before getting a new one....it is not smart. The bill collectors don't care about your 'struggles' or fellings.

Okay - back to the advice. I think a trade job that involves outdoor work would be a great option. Probably add years to your life too.

Working at Surf Internet after I retired in 2020! Great company culture! We are based out of Elkhart IN. Building FTTH in IL, MI, IN…..all sales jobs are not equal! We hiring all the time! Lots of ATT people here!!

Judging from your financial situation at 40 years old, you have made some very poor decisions in life other than your current job Waffle House is your only option. Good luck with another horrible life decision.

WFH available for techs?

10 years in? I hate this place as well but the comment about getting into the wireline tech work is the best suggestion. They make 30-50+/hr with OT and because of the CWA they chill pretty hard on the clock. Only downside for you would be working outdoors in the elements. Don’t quit this place, make them force you out.

Try getting a job with T as a technician. You might need to update your skills with a little training, but it's well worth it. Great pay and good benefits! There are many data centers in the valley that are always looking for technicians for entry level, but you have to be available for shift work and weekend work.

Money is in sales or skills. Surgeons, lawyers but today plumbers, mechanics.

Not having those you can work for low wages at retailers or fast food.

Get a trade skill and you will be fine.

Most professions beyond customer facing involve a skillset. Any education background?
