@1fxr+1vnx1UrC: recently, the short-term interest rates have been reduced -- but does not correlate to a reduction in long-term interest rates which are the key to the VZ share price (going higher and higher) and its associated dividend yield where investors will buy VZ stock instead of bonds.

39 soon. The unneeded Swede and his WEF wokey wonks were fostered by BlackRock which will soon have much 'splaining to do to the incoming administration. The company itself will have to splain away its H1B abuses as well as its help in spying on 47 and allowing its networks to be hacked by foreign adversaries. Frontier is the BODs hope to return the company back toward what it is supposed to be doing. $39 by the end of the year or until the Swede is weeded out.

Could this be why?

How much debt does Verizon have?
Total debt on the balance sheet as of September 2024 : $174.20 Billion USD. According to Verizon's latest financial reports the company's total debt is $174.20 Billion USD. A company's total debt is the sum of all current and non-current debts.

OP: good post. Posts such as these are a reminder that so much more work needs to be done. These types of reminders need to be posted more often and recur every week. Simply, infuriating, as an employee and as a shareholder, because it does impact many livelihoods.

Even today’s drop in interest rates did not help Verizon stock. Verizon stock usually looks better when bond rates drop.
