SIPP announced for systems techs

In SE, a SIPP was just announced for systems technician title only. Any takers must be off payroll Dec 14th. Not coincidentally , the next technician layoff list comes out Dec 15th. Looks like the ultimate goal is to eliminate the title completely.

So you're a self proclaimed troll? After retiring, you don't have anything better to do than keep up with layoff news? I feel sad for you! When I retire, I won't think twice about T or the gossip that this site brings. I'll have plenty of hobbies to keep me busy, maybe you should find one, unless you consider trolling your only hobby.

The post below this one is a total made up fib , I thought it was funny at the time but realize it could scare some people. I retired several years ago and honestly have no clue about anything. I apologize for posting it and wish I could remove it.

The goal is to eliminate the title by 3rd quarter of 2025. Esipp is being offered before the cutting begins, this is why they were not merged with the DT’s in the new contract, article 14 does not apply to CPE. With the lack of work decision has been made to contract what is left out including all SOG work in Georgia.

Nope, it’s true. Im a tech in South Florida and I was on the call. It’s not every market in the southeast, but it is in quite a few.

Sipp needs to be adjusted to an amount that makes it reasonable to leave. Why would someone take $30k when they can wait around and get over a year of termination pay?

Makes me wonder if T will evaluate other technician titles

Of course they are!

The way those dates line up means there will be involuntary surplus if they don't get enough volunteers.

That is really strange that they would offer an off cycle surplus a month before the next surplus is scheduled. Unless that title is not a union position.

Makes me wonder if T will evaluate other technician titles to see if they can do without many of them in LNS & BFS? It would be nice if other techs were offered some kind of early retirement package!

Take the package. Move on. Your quality of life will increase dramatically.

Trust that.
