Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

How is this supposed to work?

Can somebody explain how this place keeps insisting on hiring cheap labor while expecting top-tier talent? Where’s the logic in that? I’m genuinely curious about their thought process - does it involve magic or something? I joke, but honestly, sometimes I just want to cry from the sheer stupidity of it all.

“It's funny that they want all employees in the hub locations to 'collaborate'. One of my team members got surplus'd because he wasn't willing to relocate, but the company turned around and hired a contractor who works remotely. You cannot make this up!”

@2ijq+1voRDkOM you are 100% accurate in your post.
"Indian managers ONLY hire other Indians" is the truth.

Once you understand that they really don't care, then it will make sense.

Or why they keep hiring Indians when no one can understand anything they say. In my office, about 40% of the people are Indian. Indian managers ONLY hire other Indians. Everyone knows it and AT&T is going to get sued massively for discrimination against everyone who isn't Indian. I've discussed it with many coworkers over the last several years. Some of them have gotten together and talked it over with their own counsel. Two of those attorneys have even contacted me for input. I suspect by the end of 2025, they'll have enough inputs from enough people to proceed. They already have the entire reporting structure for the company and it won't be hard to prove.

“They think everyone below the director level is trash and easily replaceable.”

That’s rich. Most directors & above are (grossly) overpaid “fiefdom lords” of their groveling minions. Ki$$ up & k1ck down.

It's about respect & money: Exec think anybody can do the job, so go low cost. Like the guy at the gas station who pumped gas. But, keep a few that can connect a 1,024 twisted pair severed line and push fiber. An unemployed illegal will be happy with any job and does not know all the craft has sacrificed to earn their fair share. Craft has put up with this type of attitude for decades and now mgt is unhappy about going to work. Craft in any weather goes to a different location several times a day and call center suffers verbal abuse on every call.

You want the solution to this buddy. I will tell. First the execs.....send the blacks and the spanish....then join the army or navy... Join it with true love. I mean more love than anything you want. Then go to india with all the best training of all. The whole planet too.

Exactly! Just another example that RTO has NOTHING to do with “collaboration”. Instead, it’s a LAYOFF exercise to help the bottom line!

My very "important position which includes sensitive & proprietary information" was just sent overseas.

This advice applies to every job and every field:

You should be thinking about ways your job can be reduced or eliminated so you can prepare.

You can bet someone else is being paid to think about it.

It’s about simplifying everything- products, processes and systems so anyone can do it. Then hire people at minimum pay to do it. This goes for outside work and inside work. Eventually new installs will be plug and play. Hire a contractor to run the fiber to the house and the customer does the rest. Get rid of all those union Techs, service reps, ops engineers and clerks.
The new ATT with a new attitude.

Stink is a globalist. He believes that under employment in India is much more important than employing Americans. The cost savings go directly to the Stink's bonus.
