Exxon's leadership is only interested in milking the business for shareholders and senior execs. Forget about investing in people or innovation, that might benefit the company in the long run and they couldn't care less about that. It's all about squeezing out profits and boosting their own bank accounts asap.

Are all the executives saying they love winning? That was the trend a couple years ago they all started saying they were so competitive and had to win
I am on the same page as OP. Most high ups are probably mostly passionate about climbing the ladder. Any other passion they claim must be false unless they spend enough time in it to be considered a passion. Why do we sometimes make false passion claims? Might be to mold the uninformed public's perception of them. Maybe even mold their own perception of themselves which is weird. In these cases it is unfortunate for organizations because the skills required to go high are not the ones needed to maximize business competitiveness.
It is better to be a stockholder than an employee. Stockholders are treated much better than employees.

Thanks It’s Always Been Transactional Guy. I was sad and confused until you came along.
Biggest story ever told was that executives care about you. They do not.
Wow this is breathtaking breaking news
That is the number 1 priority of any company. Company and managers will sell false ideas of valuing employees, providing long term career, and advancements when labor market is tight. They can’t promise those things. It’s about profit. It’s a business transaction for people’s time, nothing more. Don’t set yourself up for disappointment by thinking it should be more.
