Webphone shows span of control issues across multiple orgs

I would be nervous to be L3, L4, L5 at ATT. There are so many orgs that are bloated at these levels, we could have a 30-40% reduction and still barely have numbers to justify these titles. Ex: Compliance.

HR needs to really do some data analysis on webphone.

How can Director Chief of Staff be a level 3 with no direct reports. This is a glorified administrative assistant.

span o control is the stupidest policy - but if it will be policy then there should be a max as well as a minimum. don't assign 40 L2s to an L4 when they can barely remember anyone's name.

It frustrates me and should frustrate everyone when they hear about L3 and above doing nothing. I’m sorry, but I work my azz off and have my entire career.
Not because I want to ki-l myself but because that’s what is required by upper mgmt to get the work done.
What I’d like to see is each L1-L2 get
To pick an L3 or above to go into the ring with. Sort of like the Tyson vs Paul experience tonight. I would pay money to watch it.

I’ll believe it when I see it. I see so many L3s with 0-2 L2s reporting to them and L4s with no directors and a few leads reporting to them. It’s been like this for a long time and every round it’s usually just a few impacts on the L2 level.

There will be an announcement the week after Thanksgiving, off payroll in December.

Level 3 and 4 affected.

No one believes there are actual HR employees posting on this site. And if you are, you don’t belong in HR. Oh wait. All of our HR employees are worthless and sh*tty, so maybe you are here.

LOL….exactly. They’re grossly overpaid coffee fetchers & paper pushers.

I can give you the names of an L3, L4, and L5 we can get rid of and improve the performance of every team associated with them. Worthless sycophants with no backbone.

Any idea on the reduction % at level 3?

I have see a ton of jobs over the last few months that were for directors and did not have direct reports.

It’s said because some of the Associate Directors i know have a ton of employees and contractors and somehow GMs can get away with having very few.

They’ve kicked this can down the road for years. They gut L1 and L2 every other month yet never touch L3 and higher. I know a handful of directors that barely do anything day to day.

Some of us at the bottom are totally overwhelmed and we’re the ones that are eventually get replaced by people overseas and the L3 and higher will continue cruising with their fat salaries and stock options.

Yet nothing has been done. Everything moves slow at AT&T.
