Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

How's BTC going?

I'm at CVX in a central engineering role and according to our execs and EY, Exxon is kicking a-s because of the BTC y'all have.

Is this true? Do they do decent engineering work? How about monitoring and operations support?

Just wondering how likely the benefits we are being sold really are, maybe it is good! Im sure our BTC will be competing for the same workers as yours and Shell.

BTC is going well - just hit $100k.

Oh you are referring to Bangalore TC.
I guess equally well since it self-identifies as “center of excellence”.

BTC is a train wreck and EM Management throwing more coal into the fire.

It is forbidden to track, trend, or report upward all the failures and near misses related to poor quality work in BTC.

Going forward as fast as possible while forbidding any tracking of failures seems like an intentional Exxon Valdez level event.

Lots of funny and a few alarming BTC stories.

The funniest is that a BTC Procurement guy called me and asked me to call a company for him and ask them to stop hanging up on him!

Every time he called about a multi million dollar bid, they would hear his accent and immediately hang up thinking scammer.

Agree.

There is no loyalty @ KLTC/BTC, w/o the golden handcuff similar to that of HC10 employees, attrition issue will not get resolved.

Lots of competition in bangeleroo. Many companies are there vying for talent. once you have someone trained they leave for the competition. Lots of turn over and no loyalty. I don't blame the workers. It's a money driven industry. If we were working at exxon for 200k and chevron offered 220k we would all leave. It is just economics pure and simple. The management want just cheap results and the lowest cost and quality. All in the name of profit and savings. Welcome to the new world and economy.

I work with Americans and no issue with data and info sharing. We work like a global company. This below is another example of backstabbing when SLT visit BTC. Always blaming others. You should take a harder look at yourself.

Any issues with quality of work are typically because American co-workers don’t share full information and data, often intentionally. This is know to senior management, feedback is conveyed when SLT visits Bangalore.

The pay is not great either but if they can adjust a bit higher then there is no work that cannot be done cheaper AND better from BTC.

Very poor quality and no ownership of results or drive. I guess there is a reason they are so cheap and their country is such a $hithole.

They are so smart that they are lazy, toxic and blame culture. They are also back stabbers and follow strict caste system. I tasted it so sharing as warning.

@OP This question has answered itself many times.

The racism that permeates this board notwithstanding, there are constant issues with the quality of the output from employees in low-cost centers. This is true for every company that sends jobs to the third world to cut labor costs, which is most companies in most industries.

I would add that people in these countries may be poor, but they’re not stupid. They know they’re underpaid and they know they’re being exploited, so they behave accordingly. Would you do your best work for $15k per year? Neither would I.

Just think of a time when you had an Indian telemarketer call you and you couldn’t understand them and they couldn’t understand you. It’s like that but the BTC people mostly seem to be narcissists even though they are terrible at their jobs.

Every interaction involving BTC personnel is like a training session.

Every work product from BTC personnel is flawed.

Management forbids any mention of any faults with BTC and rework is not measured or tracked in any way. If a team with 3 BTC members is failing miserably, EM Management doubles down and gives the failing team 5 more BTC members.

It is like doubling down on a poor decision no matter the trends or facts.

It’s better not to have BTC than to have one. Doing crazy bad work and wasting company money. And putting us all at risk.

BTC’s got some real problems—bad hiring, no proper training, and a culture all about looking good instead of doing good work. Unless leadership steps up with better pay and support, things aren’t changing anytime soon.

And don’t get me started in DTI. Sooooo great.

Everything is great. Move on.
